About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Just holds water really bad
I have played the course a couple times and on the cheap it’s not a bad course has some holes but if it has rained or anything for the last week it’s just pools of water ever where

Great place, great staff.
We play this course a few times a year. They are very supportive of Junior players and we always have an enjoyable experience at Bayou. Good people here.
The greens are always in great shape year round. Lots of undulation and they run faster than most public courses.

Hit them straight
First time there, and I Can Honestly say I had 3 player that guided me around the golf course, I lost 3 Balls All My Fault! Not the course! But I truly appreciate the course. Took me a Hour drive! 4 me it was totally worth it! And I will Come Back! .Put up a 83! Should been a 78! Maybe Next time

Nice greens
All the greens were extremely nice but some of the fairways were either wet and muddy or wet and swampy. Probably won't play this course again.

Tough Track
Today’s winds were around 20-25 mph, there is so much water in the front 9 it’s pretty crazy!! Greens are in very good shape and very challenging!! I shot 86 today from the blues and hit the ball very well in today’s conditions!!

Don’t waste your money
Course was not in good condition, greens were inconsistent, bunkers and tee boxes were terrible. Plenty of other courses to play for the money, for example Bay Forest. Won’t return.

Feedback Suggestions
1. Distance to the holes needs better marking
2. Cart path project needs to be completed.
3. Need another 9 or 18 holes as high tide flooding issues obviously exist.
4. A little too pricey for those of us living on social security.

Good public course
Course has water on a good portion of the holes and is windy from being close to the coast. Rough spots in parts of the fairways but nothing unfair. Greens rolled really well and down hill puts were very quick. I’d definitely recommend this course to any golfer. Good overall value.
Only glaring negative was a group of 6 that held up pace of play on the back 9. Not really on the fault of the course since they likely didn’t have a starter/marshalls out as a COVID-19 precaution.

Average fun course
Great greens. Fairways in poor conditions. No marshal around to control slower group play.

Course condition needs improvement!
Seems that course needs to be irrigated more. Lot of bold and brown spots. Course layout is challenging and enjoyable.

Rutting of fairways
It is a decent course and a good value for the money. However, they allow too much Fairway driving after rains causing some significant rutting in various places.
