About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Not the course it used to be.
I’ve played this course before, It was a pleasure to play. Decent fairways, bunkers, and great greens. Now it’s a cow pasture. Terrible fairways, most with no grass. All the greens were weedy and bouncy. With all respect this Artic freeze Texas has experienced may be part of the reason for some of the conditions, but it could also be it’s becoming neglected in maintenance. Not sure what to think. Not worth the $28 Golfnow fee we each paid.

Fairways barron, no grass. Greens terrible, grass pods covered every green, impossible to putt. Ridiculous price for a course in this shape.They should have paid me to play this course.

First time
I am from out of town .this is good course for the money nice and flat in my eyes focused more towards seniors but worth it

Greens are good
Title says it all. Greens are in good shape but the rest of the course is trash. Lots of flood damage in what could be a fun course. Bunkers were also like playing off a parking lot.

Great Course dirty Bathroom
The Bathroom next to the 14 was dirtier than the worse gas station bathroom I have ever seen.
Other then puddles of water everywhere because of the rain the course was great!!!!

Course was shot, full on water cricks in the middle of the fairway, should have costed 10 $ a round. Good call Bayou !

Just holds water really bad
I have played the course a couple times and on the cheap it’s not a bad course has some holes but if it has rained or anything for the last week it’s just pools of water ever where

Great place, great staff.
We play this course a few times a year. They are very supportive of Junior players and we always have an enjoyable experience at Bayou. Good people here.
The greens are always in great shape year round. Lots of undulation and they run faster than most public courses.

Hit them straight
First time there, and I Can Honestly say I had 3 player that guided me around the golf course, I lost 3 Balls All My Fault! Not the course! But I truly appreciate the course. Took me a Hour drive! 4 me it was totally worth it! And I will Come Back! .Put up a 83! Should been a 78! Maybe Next time

Nice greens
All the greens were extremely nice but some of the fairways were either wet and muddy or wet and swampy. Probably won't play this course again.

Tough Track
Today’s winds were around 20-25 mph, there is so much water in the front 9 it’s pretty crazy!! Greens are in very good shape and very challenging!! I shot 86 today from the blues and hit the ball very well in today’s conditions!!

Don’t waste your money
Course was not in good condition, greens were inconsistent, bunkers and tee boxes were terrible. Plenty of other courses to play for the money, for example Bay Forest. Won’t return.

Feedback Suggestions
1. Distance to the holes needs better marking
2. Cart path project needs to be completed.
3. Need another 9 or 18 holes as high tide flooding issues obviously exist.
4. A little too pricey for those of us living on social security.
