Good Value For Money

Compact and fairly open course, ideal for beginners. A few holes a bit up and down with a couple of Par 3 feeling a little like they were squeezed in to make it 18. That said some holes really challenge, particularly the up hill sections. Great views back over Gloucester from the top of the course. Tees and fairways in ok condition as were the greens. Most greens are shaped like an up turned saucer and, unless very accurate with approaches, there’s a real likelihood of running off. The round was a little slow, but that’s to be expected on beautifully sunny Saturday afternoon. Long, pristine and exclusive Rodway Hills is definitely not, but if you’re after good value and a great place for beginners/infrequent golfers then you won’t go far wrong.

Hidden Gem

Excellent course to play, the holes were challenging and fun. Greens are mostly flat with some more difficult gradients.

Definitely would return

Rubbish in the rain

Flooded fairways and wet greens combined with rough tee boxes and a real lack of care. The course layout is boring with endless straight par4s combined with back to back par 3s which offer nothing except more of the same. The only positive to add is that the view is somewhat interesting. Really dissatisfied with this course but when you only pay £20 what else can you expect! To small a plot to host a proper 18 holes, I suggest make it a 9 hole and spend an extra few ££ on looking after what is a frankly awful course.

Interesting course - but flooded

Played December weekend, advised there was "standing water" although a few locals in the car park told us not to play - absolute mudbath with water everywhere. Course really should not have opened as balls were plugging on fairways.

In saying that, in better weather would be a decent course for novice golfers, wide fairways, few hazards, and some very challenging holes. although very repetative 1-3 and 10-14.

Reasonable price for what it is, will return in drier weather

Good if you can get it cheap

The course is reasonable so I would expect to pay a reasonable amount. I felt £25 was a too expensive. Quiet a lot of the holes felt the same with little variation. This can also be said for the greens which were usually small, circular with sloping sides. The holes that had variation were exciting such as the 13th par 5 hole and hole 16th par 3. Whilst similarly isn’t a problem, I felt this wasn’t real value for money.

Rodway hill - great value for money

Great value for money course. Whilst you’d probably like more hazards for a challenge, the green sizes help to make up for this.

Whilst the greens ran fairly slow, they were consistently paced.

Easy to navigate from hole to hole, although a slightly bigger sign to the 10th could be handy.

Definitely recommended for mid-high handicappers and beginners.

Not bad

A decent course but could do with a few more features. A couple of nice holes and an I interesting par 3 with some large rock obstacles. Worth the price if you get the round cheap.

Reasonable course, few tweaks and it could be nice

The fairway grass length were pretty long especially when the rough was kept at the same length, hardly noticeable difference between fairway and first cut. There aren't many obstacles, the course is pretty open so if you can keep it straight-ish you dont really have much in the way - no fairway bunkers or narrow fairways to contend with, and the greens rarely have a bunker or obstacle to contend with. Equally sparse trees so not too much to contend with if have gone wide of fairway and need to cut back across. Slow very slow golfers out there, if can get to play through them then course plays quick as not too long each hole. The signposting for every hole is very poor, there are times when there is no chance of knowing where you go next, and you are dependant on asking the regulars where to go next - this has NEVER happened on any other course, this one is bizarre in that the signage is all very very poor for a first time player to the course. In terms of facilities then there is a toilet but not exactly one you would relish returning to, complete with blinking light bulbs "which always do that" according to a regular. We didn't try the practice facilities or the clubhouse - everything has the feel of the golfing equivalent of "sunday league football" - it does the job but not exactly something you will rush back for.

Shocking

We played here because some reviews rated the course... greens were holatined and sanded with long grass on them.

The course was full of none golfers' trying to play golf'

we payed £6 more on teeofftimes than we would have paying at the course.

Even if the course was in tiptop condition' we still can't see how some people rate this place.

If you're looking for an easy course and have 4-5 hours spare' this is the one for you .

ECO Pod Stay

Great place for society golf.

6 Pods twin beds and great shower facilities, very clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities. Unlimited golf with full English breakfast. What else do you need.

Easier front 9 with some short and long par 4s, more challenging back 9 with great views over the hills. 13th hole my favourite views are fantastic and the hole is a risk reward par 5. 10 is a 235 yard par 3

Avoid Seniors days is its very slow and congested unless you play the back nine first.

Course staff are fantastic, very helpful and accommodating. Green staff are doing a brilliant job, shame the members are not helping by repairing pitch marks.

Room Tip: Some twins and some doubles, discuss in advance your requirements they are willing to help

Good, but....

Course is well maintained, challenging with regards to sloped greens and pin placement, but the only reason I scored a three not a four was because of the "driving range" it was a field. No signage. Paid for 50 balls, got 37. Didn't complain as only cost £2.50. I if I'm nit picking, no ball cleaners at tee, no sand to repair previous divots, which my club has and it's come to be what I expect, but I'm not including that in my score as it's a luxury. If I could keep my ball out of the rough I wouldn't need it anyway!
