About
Double J Ranch Golf Club (formerly known as Quicksand Golf Course) in Wimberley has had some tough times since it originally opened in the 1970s but being under new management since 2001, has quickly transformed the course into one of the area's most memorable layouts. There are two defining characteristics on this course, the trees and the doglegs. Every hole on the front nine is a dogleg with the exception of two of the par 3s. On the back nine, the doglegs are less frequent but that is where all of the mature trees come into play. There are also more dramatic changes in elevation on the back nine. The par-4 eighth hole is Double J Ranch Golf Club's signature, serving as a perfect example of the type of severe dogleg the layout has become known for.

Slow greens :-(
Have played course a few times and it has a great layout and challenging .
Greens were in transition I guess and were really slow..
Course in great shape for the drought
Our first time to play Quicksand. Great course in good condition
not bad
greens run slow but are in good condition. fairways are green and well kept. No water out on the course so fill up before you tee off. $45 seemed a little much for this course. Wouldn't pay more than $20 to play again.
Nice Course
Greens were fast, fairways were great, tee boxes were average.
Some holes are very challenging.
Enjoyed the round at QuickSand. Not a bad course. Has undulating greens which resulted in a few extra putts. Overall, a nice, but older/established course good for an occasional round.

The fairways and greens are in excellent condition. The greens are a bit challenging but the course is fun to play.
Must hit fairways
Wimberleys quicksand golf course is a above average golf course. Looks can be deceiving, the course plays more difficult than one would expect. Overall I would rate the course a 7 out of 10. With tpc San Antonio an example of a 10 out of 10 course.
Good value
Good condition. The fairways are green and the greens are in great condition. There are some very narrow fairways and tee shots. A lot of the greens are elevated so if you miss the green your ball will roll and roll. Frustrating.
Overall a very enjoyable course, in good condition, with friendly staff.

Tight Fairways with OB on both sides except on Holes 1, 14, 15 & 18.
Fun course to play!
Nice course, but needs some minor attention
The course is pretty and in decent shape. Good price.
The cart paths are pretty rough and it is made worse by the filth on the windshield of the carts. U literally can not see thru them. Cleaning those should be a standard. Also the bill washers when u can find them have filthy dirty water in them and no cloths.
Great value
We really enjoyed our round. Started with some great burgers and the folks were as friendly as can be. The course was in great shape and the greens were very good.
Great test for your shot making skills.
Played this course about 8 years ago. Nice layout in Wimberley. Course was in good condition. Very tight fairways. If you're hitting it crooked, it'll be a long day. Will have to go back again to make up for the bad round I shot.
Nice greens and narrow tree lined fairways.
The course winds inside the housing development. The course is not extremely long but the day I played the fairways were soft and provided little extra roll. Out of bounds is not far from the edge of the fairway due to the close proximity of the houses to the course on some of the holes. I found the greens to be challenging and I picked up a lot of mud on my ball if it landed near the front of the green. Overall the course is very playable and I played on a weekday in around 3 hours and 45 minutes, with little waiting. Overall a nice experience.

The course was in good shape for this time of year and has been well maintained. Play was chalenging to me but I am just a weekend hacker, but the greens were probably chalenging for most players. I highly recomend playing this course.
Worth the trip to Wimberley
Course is in great shape, especially the smooth/quick greens. The course winds through the scenic neighborhood, requiring the golfer to shape their ball around the tree lined fairways. Will gladly play this course again.
This is a great and challenging course.
Quicksand at Wimberly is a challenge in itself!
It's not long from the tips, but it requires accuracy off of the tee, to find any chance at par or better. The course is overall in pretty good shape, the greens are Great, manicured and true to line!
Every fairway is lined with trees, making it scenic and challenging!
A time or two at this track and you will have a new respect for a well placed tee shot!

Always easy to get a tee time, very well maintained, always enjoy playing there.
A good mixture of holes, Greens were smooth, green and firm
Nice course for the money and the drive to Wimberly. Greens looked good and challenging. They were firm and undulating. Good variety of holes: Doglegs, elevation changes, tree lined. Some fairways were soft and muddy for being in a drought. Hamburgers at the grill were great and big.
