I like it
We played a hot deal mid day In July. The course is in good shape. The greens were in very good condition and excellent roll. Several greens were watered during the heat of the day which seemed to help. Fairways were in good shape a little dry in places. Burgers are excellent and staff very friendly. Only one other group behind us and no pace pressure. Overall good experience, I liked it and will play again.
Quicksand
These folks are golf friendly, greens in great shape, fairways utilize effluent and can be soggy at times especially in front of greens from "over-watering". Food at the grill is excellent and a great value. Friendly staff. I'd definitely recommend this course in the $30-$35 range but they're pushing it for $45. Greatful for GolfNow!
Average Course, limited highlights.
Found the course to be slightly below average. Tee boxes and fairways seemed slightly below average. Greens were in great shape though.
fun course, beautiful surroundings
Plave doesnt have a driving range and it was extremely slow play but the grounds were in excellent condition and the food and beer was a good price and delicious so i didnt mind the slow play.
half grass half animal poo
I played here first time and last time. I will never come back to play golf.
I was so nervous because of deer and dog poo. Every hole I had to clean my ball and club head. And I could not focus my game.
great shpe for winter weather
course in great shape. greens running good and plenty of green grass. brng a wet towel to keep your equipment clean, a little muddy.
A very good overall course for the low cost
Took my two sons (age 20's) and it was my first time with my older son, and both really enjoyed the course and commented so positively about the condition of the course, especially the greens. There were plenty of challenging holes, but not extreme. Not too much water on the course. If you enjoy seeing the deer and squirrels, they were everywhere. It's the closest course to our home, so we'll be going there whenever possible.
Quicksand: A Pretty Good Track
NIce track, some interesting holes, less than great drainage, and no driving range. The management needs to break down and buy ball wahers for each tee, for crying out loud.
Excellent
This is a great little course I would go back anytime the staff was friendly and the food was great
Worst course I have played in past 10 years
The Cart Windows looked like they had never been cleaned, you could not even put it up because you could not see through them. The carts were in bad maintenance but it is no wonder since the Cart Path is in worse shape than a motocross trail after a 10 inch rain and then baked for 6 months in 105 degree weather. I am a disabled vet with back injuries and it was so hard on my back I could hardly finish. My wife suggested I drive on the fair ways but it was even worse.
I was playing in a Tournament and the course did not even care enough to clean their carts windshields or fill the post hours in the cart path. This Is likely the worse job of management of a course I have seen in some 40 years of playing golf.
The $120.00 I paid for my wife and I to play will be the last $120 they ever see from me. I have played this course 8 or 9 times and always felt they would do something about it. However, it has gotten worse each time we played and this was the last straw. My back cannot survive another round of golf there. In my opinion they are stealing from their customers charging them to play there. The course is in a Beautiful setting and it is such a shame that the management does not see the gold mind they have if they would just do some upkeep on the course; or they see it as a gold mind charging what they are charging and doing nothing to make the course comfortable for their customers. They are in a retirement area and it is a shame they don not do more to make their retired customers comfortable. I am use they will be just fine with me never returning, I believe they must have the belief that they will do fine with people playing their once and never returning. Since they also believe they do not have to do anything to the course to keep it in good condition.
Practice Facility?
We have played this course a couple of time in the past and seems to be a great course, but for being a community golf course in Wimberly there is no practice range to warm up. You start the round cold. This course could do with some major renovations and design layout. I probably would not play here again for some time do to this fact. The restaurant does not open until 11 am, no atm on site and you have to contend with snow bird travelers in the beginning of the year.
The course is real short from the white tee box and you probably could bring a 7i and a putter and take on the course just fine from here. The greens fall off the back edges so keep it in the middle.
Accuracy a must from tee to green.
Had a terrific time at Quicksand. The course was in great shape, and although not overly long, it had it's challenges with narrow fairways and super fast, smallish greens. Overall a great experience for a snowbird who hadn't played in three months.
YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHEN TO BACK OFF. CAN'T JUST BOMB AWAY ALL THE TIME
COURSE WAS NICE AND HAVE PLAYED IT NUMEROUS TIMES. THE ONLY ISSUE WE HAD WAS THE COURSE WAS WAY OVER WATERED. GREENS AND FAIRWAYS WERE QUITE SOGGY.
Hill Country Golf
My son and I golf here once a month on average.
Fairly challenging for 'duffers' like us. Need to hit the ball straight on several holes, so we put away the driver on those.
Have issues with water system at times, they have been putting in a lot of effort into improving lately.
Course was rather muddy after recent rains requiring lift and clean. Greens and tees in excellent condition. Fairways very good.
Course was rather muddy after recent rains requiring lift and clean after most every shot. Greens and tees in excellent condition. Lots of subtle breaks made putting a challenge. Scenic course with good elevation change on back nine. Great value for the money as I only paid $16 inc cart.
This course's greens were perfect to putt on
I really enjoyed my round here. Although there was some wet places in the fairways, due to an unusually high amount of recent rains, the course, overall, was in very good shape. I loved how the greens ran true, fast, but true. As far as difficulty, I wouldn't place this course in the "difficult" category, but, even still, it has it's challenging holes....like #5, for example.
good value course
There were a few golfers ahead of us that slowed play down for us and a few others. That was mainly due to loose enforcement of tee times, but the value for money was great. I'd go back again even with this, especially on nice days when you can enjoy being outside.
The cart paths were actually the area that needed the most attention.
Hidden Gem
Was blown away with the course. Great area and a "Old School" layout. Tight fairways and fantastic greens. Not just bang and pitch. Can't wait to go back. It's a drive well worth and a challenge you have to experience. The burgers at the clubhouse are a must.
Good value - $28 for Sunday Golf
The course has small greens and is relatively tight. Cafe had good food and really can't complain for a round of golf under $30.
Some tee boxes need attention.
Relaxed, not crowded.
The Grill at the course has great burgers! and friendly staff.
The course is well maintained, and has mostly retirees playing.
$ great value.
