About
Lyman Orchards in Middlefield is a favorite spot for families because of the nearly 100 varieties of pick-your-own fruit, but it's popular with golfers as well, boasting both a Robert Trent Jones-designed course and one designed by Gary Player. There is also the Apple Nine Course. Situated along the banks of the Connecticut River, the orchards provide the perfect setting for a round of golf. The Jones Course has a diverse terrain, offering dramatically rolling hills on the front nine and a back nine that is routed through woodlands and wetlands. Water comes into play on a total of seven holes on the back and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the severely sloped greens. Accurate drives and irons will be generously rewarded but it's not overly punishing for high handicappers.

Good Course
Very pleased. I normally play in mass near Boston but today we took the hike and it was well worth every penny. Will definitely play this course again
Good and challenging layout
Trent Jones Jr layout and i impressed with the routing. I am starting to appreciate Jones as an architect. Conditions were good for early spring. Staff was extremely efficient. Loved how they kept riding around the course reminding everyone about social distancing.

Nice course
Nice layout. Unfortunately very soggy conditions but nobody’s fault. Nice greens. Only drawbacks were the price and the course ranger that really acted inappropriately towards several patrons. The course would do better without him.
Your employee scolded a golfer for being off a cart path in an attempt to avoid a work area. The golfer tried explaining his actions and was met with a verbal tongue lashing from your employee. The golfer complied. Your employee then drove away, through the mud, doing exactly what he told the golfer not to do. The virus and your policies had absolutely nothing to do with what happened. Your employee was discourteous, unprofessional,and extremely disrespectful. Otherwise we had a very enjoyable round of golf

Weather broke perfectly. Staff super conscious and prepared. Played the back 9 first then front. Greg the starter super cool. Course is very green, was wet from a brief morning rain. If you live within 2 hours it’s worth it. Catch a deal. I carted but lots of people walking as well. Will be back to try the Player side soon. Thank YOU Lyman Orchards!!!!

Fall golf in New England
Played after a rainy night and course was wet, but well kept and in fine condition. Fairways and greens were "strong." (Not sloppy) Tee boxes were some of the best I've seen all year. Greens were challenging with aggressive undulations. The yardage card provided free with scorecard is a huge bonus! Water provided on multiple holes. The greens-keepers were courteous to players coming through. Great deal for 18 & cart. Highly recommended.

Lyman Orchards Trent Jones course
Beautiful course in great shape (except for tee off boxes). Great for us hackers with forgiving fairways, true roll greens, friendly soda girl and staff. Recommend Highly

Poor Layout, tight fairways.
First time playing this course and most likely the last. $54.00 for 18 w/cart, odd layout with tight fairways, elevated greens (sometimes oddly elevated -#18). Slow pace of play, plenty of dog legs.

We played the course on Sunday after a bad rainstorm, the sand traps were washed out. But that may have been due to the bad storm on Saturday.
We were teamed up with a twosome who played extremely slow, thankfully the ranger addressed the slow play. Pro shop staff, cart girl and restaurant staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Course is a little pricey. We will play it again.

As you might imagine there were some wet areas. But it was not bad at all considering all the rain we’ve had over the last 6 months.
