RIP off
Not worth the money.
Found a hot deal on this course, figured we'd give it a try. When we arrived we were told the cart wasn't included and that it shouldn't have been listed as such on Golfnow. Ended up paying $28 for a cart. This left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the round.
After our round I went in to ask for my cart to be refunded.
The young kid behind the counter did nothing, but magically knew we'd have our money back in 14 days.
At this point I asked him if he'd like some basic information such as my name, phone number, anything really. It's been almost 3 weeks and still no refund.
Great public course - speedy greens
First time playing at Mallard Creek. Loved playing “The Lakes” course (holes 19-36). Had plenty of open fairways, but not without challenges. Bring a few extra balls if your tee shots tend to go swimming like mine do. Hit a bit of a log jam on the back nine as a couple groups in front of us spent five minutes looking for every ball. Group behind us was nice about it, though. Greens were some of the best I’ve seen near Cleveland as far as public courses go—I just wish people would learn to fix their ball marks! Would definitely play here again.
Good Round
First time playing here. Course layout was great and pretty challenging with all the water (we played the Lakes course). Greens were fast but there were large dead spots on some of the greens and the tee boxes. Expected the course to be in better shape so early in the season. Good overall though. Would play here again.
No round for me
I reserved a round at 7:47am on golfnow. I got there at 7:40 and the gate was closed. I waited 30 minutes and the gate remained closed. So I didn’t even get my round.
Course gets a lot of play
This course is generally very busy, and attracts a pretty high-handicap, newer to the game type of player so pace of play is generally pretty slow. Oddly the greens on the front 9 (19-27) were pretty chewed up and pockmarked with unrepaired ball marks, but those on the back (28-36) were in great shape. Not a lot of distinction between fairway and rough.
Conditions/Pace
The course conditions were very poor. I had a difficult time getting a tee into any of the tee boxes. They were hard as a rock and littered with tees. The fairways were all crab grass and dirt. You were lucky to be hitting off grass at all... We were only able to finish 9 holes in 3 hours. The pace was horrendous... I have never seen a course so overcrowded in my life. The staff was polite and gave me a rain check for the other 9 holes, but honestly I just wanted a refund. I have no intention of going back to play on that course...
Concrete
Course was hard as a rock. No difference between fairways and rough. I know they always get a ton of play here but even on a hot deal this was not worth the money and a shadow of what this course was ten years ago.
