First 60+ degree day
Ed Oliver is usually a “go-to” course for me. For the price, it isn’t bad. The front 9 bunkers are way better than the back 9. But because I played in the early/mid March, I’m looking forward to playing in the spring/summer. Although I expect it to be a little busy, instead of finishing a round in 4 hours, I’m going to tell the wife 5 hours!
Nice course for the price - challenging greens
Staff was very amiable. Tee boxes are a bit rough but otherwise the course is very well-kept.
Not a long course but fast, well-protected greens.
Great place to work on your short game.
Neglected course, rude staff
I’ve read a few comments saying this place probably is nicer in the middle of the season, I played here in the middle of last Summer and it was in very poor condition. At most courses there’s a natural penalty for leaving your approach shots short of the green but here you’ll be hitting from big patches of firm mud if you do so!
I’m addition to the poor conditions, the staff was rude and I was changed additionally (so double-charged for a cart) and forced to ride with someone I hadn’t seen for six months prior in the middle of COVID because “we booked together.” I tried several times to file a complaint, and both times was met with a copy-pasted response before being ignored.
Watch out for fox
This is a first, I hit my second shot , a fox grab my ball while it was rolling and took off with it into the woods with it .
so so
Most fairways and greens were okay. Tee boxes were bad. If you were off the fairway, conditions were rather bad. Sand traps were unplayable.
H Vardon
Always nice to play Ole Wilmington CC.Great course for the $. In great shape. Just one suggestion, to improve pace of play, don't place pins three feet from edge of green. Cheers Wilfid Read.
Going the right direction
I’ve always enjoyed this course. The greens are always on point. Most fairways are green and manicured. My only complaint would be some of the tee boxes.
Besides that, you can’t beat the cost for what you get.
Too many golfers
A beautiful fall day, course in good shape and all this was ruined by Casper Mgt chasing the almighty dollar. Have played Porky’s many times before and have always like the course. Today was the worst time I’ve ever had there due to 7 minute intervals on the tee times. That’s crazy to think people can play a hole in 7 minutes. We were about 10-15 minutes late at the first tee due to 3-4 foursomes waiting to tee off. Every hole there was a wait and on some holes there were 3 groups at once on the hole. Mgt trying to stuff as many golfers as possible on the course ruined what could have been a nice day. That’s why I don’t play Rock Manor anymore and Porky’s has just joined the list of course I won’t play anymore!!
Nice course
Greens were pretty good fairways in decent shape. Overall for $52 can’t complain one bit
