Good, not great
Average overpriced muni, range balls are cheap but in horrible shape with a destroyed grass area. Greens rolled okay.

Vastly improves
Watered and maintained. Plush green grass in fairways. Dead spots on greens but a heavily played course and diseases are common challenges for keepers so what can you do?
Much better condition in August than previous visits.

A Gem of Merced County
Rancho Del Rey is a nice course located in Atwater, Ca. For me it's a local course I love playing. It's 10 minutes away and the course is kept up fairly well. The staff is always friendly. I didn't go to the clubhouse today but when I do it's always staffed when friendly people. The pace of play this time was a bit slow as I was finally able to tee off about 10-15 minutes after me tee time. Seems that they could use someone monitoring the 1st hole to make sure people start teeing off.

Great layout, pour maintenance
Discourse is actually got a great layout except they don’t appear to put a whole Lotta money into the keep up of this course, the greens are terrible hard to get a feel on putting the greens. It’s just too bad they don’t put any money back into this course. Whoever gave this course a four star rating must be a homeboy.

Tee time
Dispute with other golfer about tee times.no control by course management. No announcement made by starter for tee appearance. Confusion caused by not controlling tee time .

Course condition was amazingly nice. Fairways was nice and green, green was nice and flat.
Only down fall is the pace of play after groups start to get backed up. Otherwise the course was really nice.

Not what I expected
Not sure how this course had a rating of 4, but this course is not even a 3. Greens were ok but the fairways were real bad.
