Mandalay is quality
Pro shop, cafe, restaurant, practice facilities, carts with course gps, and the course are all great.
Hot day but worth it
It was 37 degrees on the day but had a breeze that made play bearable -
The course is the favourite of many in the club - not mission impossible but not an easy course. -
Great design and most hole offer a challenge and each hole has it’s unique challenge
Good amenanties - staff were great in the pro shop and the bar area. - very comfortable .
Challenging Track
Excellent layout. Condition was good. Bunkers could be maintained better. Overall worth a game there. Would recommend.
Fairways a bit moist
Course was in as good as condition as you can expect for a clay based course in July in the middle of a Melbourne winter. Carts were banned, and most fairways were 50% water logged, Meaning casual water, or preferred lies, but struggling to find suitable drop areas. Much better course in drier conditions, Will wait until mid spring before a return. Green designs are also a bit repetitive, 45 degree angle, left to right, with a bunker middle front right. Also that 15th Hole needs to be fixed/remade, Its to long for a Par 3 with that green design, with no bail out area
Struggling to Find a Positive
Absolutely hopeless to try & get in touch. Hadn't played Mandalay before, booked online, rang up to add a person and book carts, left 3 messages, none of these were returned, then finally rang again and got hold of a real person (Kevin?) who said that carts were included in the price paid online - they weren't, so we had to pay extra. No bar or food service available, 2 sad pies left in the pie warmer, the toilet out on the course was in a disgusting state, and the carts add an extra level of stress - you drive within 10-20 metres of a blue line and the cart cuts out and can only be driven in reverse, the carts are a complete pain. Course is quite nice, staff were friendly, but would I come again? No, there's much better service at other courses.
Love the layout
Bunker city , smooth fairways and some tricky greens. really enjoyed the experience!!!
Good value, needs variety
Course conditions pretty good even after heavy rain. There is not much variety - lots of straight away par 4’s around 360-380 from back tees - tough par 3’s. Bunkering is well placed for a challenging round. Quite a lot of holes have a decent walk green to tee - almost everyone used a cart. Unfortunately the housing estate construction mean the surrounds are quite unsightly throughout, where I’m sure rolling hills and farmland once dominated. Overall a good course.
Great Morning at Mandalay
A very friendly welcome from the staff member. He knew we were coming and had our cart keys ready. WE enjoyed an interruption free game. Four players. The only thing I would say is that I thought I was getting a 10% discount by registering with golf now. I also heard on SEN on the drive in that by paying 49.50 per person with two or four players with a cart, I thought that on the radio it said there was a free drink at the end of our round. That would have capped off the perfect day. I thought the screens with the information about the hole and distance to the front of the green and the flag were an excellent value add to the experience. Thanks. I will be back. IF you want to ring me about the absence of the drinks, I was the 7.24am tee time on 12 April.
Great condition & challenging design.
I shot my best round of golf on this course as a high handicapper. Forgiving fairways, manageable hazards, tough but smooth greens. It’s a very long course with distance between greens & tee boxes, recommend getting a cart.
Awesome layout
The course is a gem, challenging with no driver. Great day.
