Stationed Here
My wife and I were stationed here back in the Mid 80's. We didn't play golf then, but we had ate at the Club House several times over the years we were there. The course was beautiful then. We went back to look around and play the course remembering what it was like. However that is not what we found when we arrived. The fairways had a lot of bare spots on every hole. The greens had been punched (I'm guessing) a week ago and had very little sand so they were extremely fast. The greens have a lot of undulation in them so any putt going down will easily go by 3 -- 6 feet. Hopefully they put some money into the fairways and make it what it use to be. Then I would go back and play it again. Views were amazing!
Out of the way but worth the drive!
Played here over the weekend and it was just as good as ever. Although it is with the gates of Edwards AirForce Base with advanced notice the course can sponsor you in play. The course itself is in pretty good shape considering it is sitting in middle of the desert. The greens are very smooth and challenging with lots of undulation and are normally pretty quick, especially down grain. One thing to be mindful of when opting to play is the wind. Check the wind conditions prior to going out, especially in the afternoon during summertime. The wind can be blowing a constant 25-30mph and along with the fast greens can be very demoralizing. I will recommend this course to anyone looking for something challenging different. The pace of place is always excellent and the pro shop, grill and staff are excellent.
