EagleVail Golf Club

About
What's the best way to describe EagleVail Golf Club? A river golf course? A mountain golf course? Actually, it's a little bit of both. It's also a pretty golf course ... and pretty tough. The 18-hole Bruce Devlin and Roger von Hagge design, which opened in 1974, isn't a long golf course by today's standards, but there isn't a lot of room for error. The only true mountain design for a public golf course in the Vail Valley places a high priority on shot placement, and you should as well if you want to have a good score. The tee shot at the par-5 first hole is elevated about 75 feet, there's the red barn at No. 2 (part of the area's agricultural heritage) and there are plenty of elevation changes and breathtaking views as you make your way around. But no matter what you call EagleVail Golf Club, chances are you'll be calling for another tee time once you've played there.

Beautiful views Photo submitted by dahoffman on 05/30/2013
Early season
Prepaid but wasn’t told only 12 open holes, and would only play 12 (no extra 6 open holes to make 18).
Conditions decent for such an early date in Colorado mountains. Greens slow but true.
Interesting layout, good sand, decent challenge.
Clubhouse inviting, but no outside seating and (mandatory) high prices as it is Vail.
Give the course a few weeks to got conditions up to snuff, good place to visit.
Memorial Day weekend
Course is in some of the best shape I’ve seen for early conditions. Greens are rolling excellent.

Challenging and beautiful
The course is very challenging with lots of water and narrow fairways, but they are so well kept, besides the amazing landscape.
Fun Course
Fun course with some interesting holes. Course was in great shape. Greens are quick and challenging.
Great Course - Why no Marshall’s
The condition and layout of the course was wonderful. Only drawback was no Marshall’s.
Group in front of us spent more time collecting theirs and others balls out of woods. 5 hr round that was so unnecessary, the fees charged to play should be sufficient to support at least one Marshall.
Nice course in very good shape
Overall this is a very nice golf experience. Conditions are great, greens fast and true, fairways lush but trimmed and a great gps system. My only issue is the layout is a little tricked up with some huge drop offs and quirky hole shapes. But, that may be because you are after all, in the mountains. If it is your first time, it helps to have a local guide some of your club and strategy choices.
Beautiful Views, challenging for first time
I enjoyed the way handicap of holes increases with each hole. I definitely want to return now that I know the course better. It lacks a good putting/chipping green. Very small.
Great course, great day!
Great day all around. Fun and challenging course with awesome views. Greens not in the best condition but challenging in a good way
Love this course and staff
Course is immaculate and all staff was extremely friendly, informative, and poured a good cold beer.
Great elevation changes
From riverside to mountainside this course has it all. It was in great condition today. Greens were fast and somewhat firm. Putts rolled true. Played it from the backs which was a nice challenge. Keep the ball in the short grass to score.
