Plum Creek Golf & Country Club
About
Legendary golf architects Pete Dye and Perry Dye designed the 18-hole, private course at Plum Creek Golf and Country Club, located in Castle Rock. Opened in 1984, the golf course features 7,044 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. Dye included various different challenges in this golf course, causing some locals to say that it possesses some of the most difficult holes in the state. The hilly terrain of the well-bunkered course causes many uneven lies. Water hazards also come into play on some holes. Plum Creek Golf and Country Club boasts beautiful views of Castle Rock and the Rockies.

Great value, great layout, fun coarse.
As i have seen in other reviews of this coarse I agree the rough needs attention. 5 feet off the fairway the grass grows in clumps and your ball will most likely be in a "hole" because the rough is not thick enough. we played lift and place so not that big of a deal but if you are a stricked follower of the rules you best stay in the fairway or your life could get tough. Overall, it was well enough maintained for a good round and fun layout. can't beat the price, I would play it again any time.
If in good condition it would be great.
From the golf carts to the driving range to the course all in need of an upgrade. The driving range is pathetic. You're not hitting real golf balls and those that you are hitting are very, very old.
The ruff is difficult in that there are patches of grass or clumps of grass and then no grass. Your ball could be in a hole because it is surrounded by grass patches.
Barbeque outside was a plus as well as attitude of all staff. Just in need of some work. Not a terrible buy at $70 but just average.
Slow pace of play, no yardage markers on the course, no ball washers on course, no rangers monitoring play, poor course condition.
Very slow pace--took us almost 3 hours to finish the front nine...there are no yardage markers on the course, no rangers to speed up play, no drinking water, no ball wash stands, and the concrete cart paths are destroyed--get ready for a bumpy ride. The course isn't in terrible shape, but overall, it was a very negative golf experience.
Best Value in Colorado
we played Thursday Morning for $40 a player including the carts. Greens were in great shape.
Great fairways & greens
The greens & fairways were in excellent condition, the tee`s need attention but they aren`t to the point that they affect your game. Range balls are very expensive ($15 for a large bucket). Overall a very challenging course that I would not reccomend for beginners.
Could be a top five in state
Making a last minute Saturday morning tee time I was left with few choices and decided to try Plum Creek.
Yes other reviews are true, the course is not in the best of shape. Fairways need a season or two of over seeding and love.
Greens were on the slow side but in very nice shape. The rough and second cut areas were clumpy and the worst part of the over all course condition.
Playing from the tips this course is challenging and fun. Overall the course is scenic with many holes setting up in a way that makes you feel like your playing a high end tour stop. It is true this used to be TPC course and I can say why. I rated this course 1 star more than it deserves. If the new owner can increase play on the course this could be a top five in Colorado.
Great design
I read somewhere (the Internet so it must be true) that Pete dye used 10,000 railroad ties on this course and I believe it after playing this course. I found plum creek to be challenging and fun. I will play this again next time I am in Colorado .
A typical Pete Dye layout, the course was well designed, but over the years it has not been maintained as well as it needs. And it was VERY slow
It is really a shame to see a very good course go downhill in terms of maintenance and upkeep. The staff is nice, and the fairways and greens were nice. However, the course clearly does not get the money, time and attention to be outstanding. For a very reasonable course fee, it was fine. However, I prefer to go to other courses in the area that are better maintained and the staff makes sure that players keep up the pace of play. This got so bad that after nine holes I quit, it was so slow...
So much potenti
Course has a great layout with so much potential, but due to financial issues the course is just barely maintained. Greens are fantastic and the track is challenging with a fun layout. The problem is the course is horribly maintained with fairways that are inconsistently maintained and the rough isn't maintained at all. Lots of areas are waste areas. Played a Sunday morning round at 8:10 am. The first nine holes took 3 hours. 18 holes took 6 hours. When mentioned to the Marshall's it was like. That's the way it is. Course could be great if it was maintained and the folks there cared
This course has great views
I've played this course numerous times and absolutely love it and recommend it to anyone!!
Don't send your Junior Golfer here
My teenaged son and two friends played this course, thinking that they would receive a junior rate, based on the variable pricing on the website. When they booked the tee time by phone with the clubhouse, they were not told differently. Upon arrival at the course, they were charged double the junior rate that they saw on the website when booking the tee time. A call to the club and a heated exchange with the employee on the phone ended with a commitment to refund the difference. The boys went to the club to obtain their refund and were shortchanged by that employee, claiming that they must have looked at a different "Plum Creek" website. This is not the course for your young golfers, as it appears that taking advantage of juniors is an acceptable practice for this course.
Plum Creek not so Plum
Not a customer friendly establishment. This organization's philosophy is 'take the money" as the course and facilities are in desparate need of attention and repair. This is not a course to go for the enjoyment of golf, as there isn't any effort to accomodate the golfers and make the experience one that they would want to reproduce. This is not a junior golfer friendly facility either, as there is no effort to cultivate the youth golfer.
Diamond in the Rough
Great Value,Great Course and Nice location. It is crazy to think that you can play where some PGA pros have played.
Greens all rolled true. Not too quick.
Greens in excellent shape. Fairways well maintained Off the fairway anything from thick rough to hardpan. That's what you get for missing. 16-18 reminded me of TPC Woodlands. No room for error. A good mental test for mid - high handicappers.
Nice place to spend the afternoon
Will come back again, great value, get a "hot deal" @ golfnow.com.
This course and the facilities are suffering
The course is challenging and has some good points to it. It is very obvious there is little to no money coming in as the facilities are in very bad shape. Though the fairways are maintained, the rough and the outlining areas are suffering.
Value but could be better
At $35 with a cart it is hard to beat the value. The course is fun but challenging. The carts and clubhouse are showing their age. The pace of place was super slow today and the pro shop didn't seem to care. It was the slowest I had experienced here to be fair. Overall a good course and value but a few improvements could make it great.
Buyer beware
Course is OK. Play a few rounds there over the last year. One of Plum creeks representatives offered a round of golf for 4 for $100.00. There was a time limit but I was told if you do not get your round in before the expiration date you would have to pay $20.00 more because the rates will go up in this summer. We get there and was told it is $20.00 per person now. I know Plum creek is hurting but this is not a good way of doing business.
Pleasant Surprise
The course was actually in much better shape than i expected. The greens were in good shape and the ball roll true. The fairways were in good shape given the heat lately, and it was good to see they were not wasting water on the rough. Pace of play was very good, definitely a great course for a Sunday afternoon.
