Good course, awful pace
Expect 5 hours at minimum. Marshalls do nothing to enforce pace or ask groups to skip a hole. It would be more fun if you weren’t pulling up to every tee box with the group in front of you still hitting.
Good value
Surprisingly solid track on the army base. Fairways and the first cut were in good shape. The greens mostly rolled true but had a few rough spots. Fun layout too. The clubhouse was nice with a big pro shop for anything you might need. There were a few water stations which is nice since the entire course sits in the sun. Slow pace of play is to be expected - looked like there were beginner golfers out on the course when I played. Our foursome got our afternoon round in in just over 5 hours. If you don’t have a tee time on GolfNow just call the shop. They do a lot of ‘show up and get in line’ tee times in the afternoon from what I could tell.
For a weekend round under $60 (for civilians), it’s a good deal. Good alternative to the other local courses around town that are always packed.
Great course!
Didn’t even know this course existed. Very fun! Great for any skill level. Greens are fast and challenging. Will certainly be back.
Great Course. Slow Play
Cart Path only rule due to recent wet weather. This + walk ons made for extremely slow play. Took 4hrs to play 12 holes; threw in the towel at that point. Typically not this slow.
Painfully slow play because of “starters”
Sent off the back to start our round which took 2:30. Marshall’s everywhere making zero impact on pace of play. Made the turn on the front hoping the pace would be better. Bozo starter sent TWO groups off in front of us even though they knew we were making the turn. This course is super fun and In great shape but the pace of play brought on by the staff makes it almost unplayable. Do better.
Course was in great shape
Didn’t expect the course to be such in great shape this time of year with the other courses in town still looking pretty yellow. All great to play Cheyenne shadow. Happy to see it on GOLFNOW
Surprisingly Good
Cheyenne Shadows located on Fort Carson was surprisingly good. A little gem. Despite it being early March the dormant grasses allow a pleasant play. The greens rolled true and even down wind shots would hold on them if coming from proper height. The layout is pleasantly varied. Par 3s from elevation along with forced carries across large gulleys. Quite a few doglegs throughout that playing with someone familiar to the course does give a benefit so a stream doesn’t sneak up. Clubhouse, practice facility and everything around the course is extremely nice. Walkable, I walked, with a few climbs to tee boxes, it’s a nice stroll with some good views of Cheyenne Mountain. Would recommend for a good course in Colo Springs.
Fantastic bang for buck
The course plays it’s best mid summer, but it’s layout is challenging with interesting holes and a good mix of par 5s and 3s.
Challenging Military gem
This course is a beauty. Ravine par-3 holes, cliff side par-3's, par 5 that climbs the side of the mountain (it seems), well placed water hazards make this course a fun (but sometimes frustrating) course. Carts have GPS allowing for accurate distance measurements.
