The Ocean Course is one of two championship courses at Kona Country Club. As its name implies, this course has an oceanfront location with views of the surrounding mountains that are home to its sister course, the Mountain Course. The Ocean Course provides an easier, but no less enjoyable round than its sibling. The layout features wide-open fairways and numerous strategically placed sand bunkers. The turquoise waters and black lava outcroppings provide natural hazards. The signature holes are the third and 12th, but one of the most memorable is the 13th hole where during November through March, you can catch a glimpse of a humpback whale. While both Kona C.C. golf courses provide a variety of challenges, the Ocean Course is a gentle, more player-friendly option that still features the same stunning views as the Mountain Course.

pleasant round
Previous round was spoiled by slow pace. This round was a complete turn around. Good company on a beautiful course.

Bad round on a nice course
Have played this course many times in years past.never encountered anything like this. No starter so group in front of us had 7 players. 6 players used the back tees and 3 had almost no golf skills. Almost 3 hours on front 9.
Complained at the turn and the group was briefly broken up but grouped again on the next hole. Five and a half hours later I was never so happy to leave a course. Complained again at cart return and were told that staff had no authority to enforce any decorum. This group littered the course with beer debris.
Five and half hour round. No water, No ice. Yuck!

Don’t book on Golfnow
Course closes at 5:30. Almost impossible to get 18 holes in.

Failure to communicate
They openly gouge tourists which is common. But Golfnow only offered afternoon tee times. We thought this was okay because daylight lasts until 7 pm this time of year. Slow play got us to 17 at 5:30 and the Marshall made us leave saying the course was closed! I was devastated because had I birdied 18 I would’ve broke 80 which I hadn’t done in a long time.
