About
Located in Longmont, the nine-hole, municipal Sunset Golf Course is a great, affordable option for beginners and families. Opened in 1924, it is one of Colorado's oldest golf courses. Although experienced golfers may not find it challenging enough, the course provides an excellent spot to practice your short game and it is definitely one of the most scenic courses in the area with beautiful views of Long's Peak. The par-34 course covers 2,981 yards from its longest tees. The terrain of Sunset Golf Course is quite hilly and the tree-lined fairways are very narrow. No water hazards come into play but the course is well-bunkered. The signature hole is the par-4 fourth hole.

Great Front Range views
Longs Peak on #1. Pikes Peak on #3.
Really a nice course tucked into an historic residential section. One of our favorites.
One draw back- some if the golfers don’t understand golf etiquette and playing quickly. Seemed like they went slower when they saw us waiting. Rough looking group not very good golfers.

Great little 9
This is a small town old 9er! It's not sold as anything else. Iys in good shape, the greens are tricky and fun people play there.

Perfect way to wake up.

Course conditions have certainly improved
I’ve seen this course in pretty rough shape before, but was pleasantly surprised by how good things looked this last time. I don’t often play here, unless I’m playing with a beginner golfer, or just really in need to play a quick 9. This was the 2nd time I took my mom so that she can continue learning the game and improving, and this is a great course for that. We had an awesome time!

Best play for the money
I enjoyed the distance of the par four and fives. This allowed me to really exercise my play and not commit to a short par 3 course just playing nine holes. Greens were nice and the fairways forgiving. I also loved the history that I learned about the place while playing with an older gentleman.

Muni golf
This old (by Colorado standards) is a fairly typical municipal course - pleasant layout, heavily used, and oh so walkable. Got in a quick round and enjoyed the company I played with and the ease of play.

Had a great time playing here! For the money, the course exceeded my expectations! The greens are pretty small, but roll true, albeit a bit slow.

great course for $ and moderate skill level
First - it is a beautiful course with amazing mountain views (on most days). for experienced golfers it plays short. for walkers - be warned it is very hilly, every hole is either uphill or down hill except the long par 4 4th hole and the par 3 5th hole. the course is well-maintained and the staff is exceptionally friendly. Not a lot of fancy here, just good fun. I am not from Longmont but in town once or twice or year and try to play the course when I can.
