About
The Gold Course from Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is the only 18-hole course at the facility. Designed by Frank Hummel, the course opened in 1959 and used to include the 9 holes of the Blue Course as the front nine. Currently however, both the Gold and the Blue are separate courses. The landscape of the Gold is hilly and seven ponds create a beautiful atmosphere while also adding challenging water hazards to eleven holes. Although the entire course is scenic, the 12th hole is considered to have the most picturesque views. Its elevated tee offers gorgeous vistas of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is known not only for its gorgeous scenery, it has also received acclaim from golf publications such as Golf Digest.

Some of the worst golf course etiquette I have ever experienced
Throughout my round, me and my playing partner visually saw other groups pick up and pocket the balls we were playing with FOUR times. When we confronted the groups about our balls they said they saw nothing on the hole. AGAIN WE VISUALLY SAW THEM PICK UP AND POCKET OUR BALLS. I don't even know what to say because obviously this isn't something the course staff can correct. It was annoying when it happened on the first hole when my drive was in the center of the fairway on MY hole, but I didn't let it destroy my round right at the start. However, happening 3 more times in the span of 18 holes is just wild.

Golf for everyone!
Love this place. The value is great. They have something for everyone on every level of golf! Par 3 short course, 9hole get in get out course, and obviously the championship gold course!
Slow pace of play
Couldn’t get into a rhythm because we waited 5-10 minutes in most holes.
The Gold Course Is A Good Value
The course was in good condition, but it’s just not my favorite layout. All the par threes play over or near water and all play long. Some of the par fives have very narrow fairways as you approach the greens. The rough is very thick in places and you can barely hit out of it. Also, there are trees that penalize you for otherwise great shots throughout the course. Unless you play this course a lot, be prepared to shoot over your average, even if you play well.
Having said that, it’s a great value for the money and the facilities are awesome.
Good course over all - need all new mats on driving range and/or would be nice to hit off grass
There was a group of 6 ppl in front of us. That should not happen which slowed up pace of play
Some of the t-boxes are not flat but round so finding a good t location can be difficult. Example hole #5 on gold
Overall still a good course.
Good layout for the price
We played in mid-April so conditions were not good since there had been little moisture in Colorado and the greens had been aerated the week before. The worst was the 18th hole where the fairway had just been aerated and the plugs had not been picked up. Our drives had no roll due to the plugs. Not a great way to finish.
Early spring conditions
Every year they seem to get a later start to having the course in good shape, aeration is super annoying, especially on the greens. They are still involved in doing construction on the blue course. But there is a lot of patchy spots and the greens were very bumpy and rough on the gold course. Still no water fountain or water filling stations.
Fun Course
The course is in very good shape for this time of the year. The layout is fun and I give it a solid overall rating. Some construction and cart path only were the only draw backs that I saw. Other than that, I can't wait to play in again in season.
Good staff and love this course but…
The pace of play was SO SLOW this day. I know they had a frost delay but 18 took over 5 hours this day. Half my tee time had to leave before they even finished.
Good times
Been playing golf here since I was a boy, always love the layout and condition. Looking forward to the improvements.
