Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills - Gold Course
About
The Gold Course from Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is the only 18-hole course at the facility. Designed by Frank Hummel, the course opened in 1959 and used to include the 9 holes of the Blue Course as the front nine. Currently however, both the Gold and the Blue are separate courses. The landscape of the Gold is hilly and seven ponds create a beautiful atmosphere while also adding challenging water hazards to eleven holes. Although the entire course is scenic, the 12th hole is considered to have the most picturesque views. Its elevated tee offers gorgeous vistas of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is known not only for its gorgeous scenery, it has also received acclaim from golf publications such as Golf Digest.

Mats
Please replace the temporary mats on the par 3s. Terrible condition, not level.
Really good course with beautiful views
First time playing this course and I must say I'll be back. The course was in great condition even for it being winter time. Also great views of the Rocky mountains too!
Tough Gold course; please improve mats
Always challenging, we enjoyed 18 holes in the cold. We cannot be too critical of construction on the course in the off season, though overly confusing at the end. And we understand the idea of mats on a few tee boxes. But they were often slick and ratty and the temptation to use the grass is high (though we resisted!). And the placement of a tee hole forced us to stand on the seam between.
Blue Course Okay
Played 9 hole Blue Course for the first time. First and second holes were a little confusing due to ongoing course modifications. Rest of course was fine. A little more relaxed pace of play it seemed. Good lunch in restaurant afterwards.
I would not recommend this course for fall or winter play
Hyland Hills Gold Course (11/16/2024)
Cours ein good shape for this time of year. Still some snow on the ground in shaded areas. Unfortunate frost delay of 1 1/2 hours though. They should move the first tee time back to 9 Am vice 8 AM,.
Nice round after a frost delay
Even though there was a frost delay, I was able to get out as a single. The starter got me out there right away. Friendly staff. Greens were in good shape. Enjoyed the layout even with snow on the ground. I would love to try this course again. GPS and ball/club washers on carts a plus.
Good Test of Golf
Course is well laid out and in fine shape for November. Greens roll true, and most bunkers have adequate sand. Staff is friendly.
The course was good
Pace of play was bad. GPS kept saying speed up but we could not. Never saw a marshal
Pleasant surprise
Beautiful fall conditions. Wide fairways and well marked for yardage. I appreciated the gps in the cart. Challenging greens with lots of undulations. I’ve driven past this place many times enroute to another course but that will change..
Hyland Hills GC
Course was in great shape and condition. Greens rolled real well.I recommend this course to anybody who wants a challenging course to play.
Won't play again....
They started us 20 minutes late because of a frost delay. In addition to getting off the first tee box late, there were a few groups in front of us who were pretty slow. I'm not the fastest golfer, so my complaint isn't with the groups in front of us. My complaint is with Brad in the Pro Shop. We were only able to get 13 holes in because of the sunsetting. When we got back to the Club House, the Pro Shop was closed. Upon calling Brad the next morning to ask for rain check, he informed us we should have quit earlier and come in before the shop closed. There had to have been at least six groups out there past dark so we couldn't have been the only people to call. Between the round, balls, drinks, and food, my foursome spent in upwards of $600. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Hyland Hills after service like that. My name is Jeffrey - I didn't want to post this anonymously but Golf Now wouldn't let me set my username.
Excellent day of Fall golf.
Fantastic course, in great Fall condition. The course has great par 3 holes amidst challenging holes throughout. Cannot beat the price for such a great course.
