Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills - Gold Course
About
The Gold Course from Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is the only 18-hole course at the facility. Designed by Frank Hummel, the course opened in 1959 and used to include the 9 holes of the Blue Course as the front nine. Currently however, both the Gold and the Blue are separate courses. The landscape of the Gold is hilly and seven ponds create a beautiful atmosphere while also adding challenging water hazards to eleven holes. Although the entire course is scenic, the 12th hole is considered to have the most picturesque views. Its elevated tee offers gorgeous vistas of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is known not only for its gorgeous scenery, it has also received acclaim from golf publications such as Golf Digest.

Hyland Hills Gold Course 10/23/2024
Course was in great shape. A little slow today for some reason. Water coolers no longer filled on the course; I guess because it is late in the season. Unfortunate.
Pace of play
This round took us 5 hours. GPS kept telling us to speed up or marshal would be sent out. Never saw a marshal. Couldn't speed up because of foursomes in front of us.
Great established and mature golf course.
I've played this place for 40+ years. Continue today with my wife and son in tow. Great shape for the traffic it sees, at a fair price. Just upgraded carts to GPS and that is a nice bonus. Has some great holes you can really bomb em, and some ya need a good amount of touch to navigate. Good staff, Great restaurant attached, and a decent sized pro shop and practice facility..
Hyland Hills
It’s a very good golf course and certain holes are challenging.
Excellent setting for fall golf. The rates were incredibly low for such a good course. I will definitely be back.
Great Golf
Hyland Hills course was great as was the staff! We will be back!
Terrible staff interaction and 1 hour frost delay
We brought my 2 nephews to ride with our four on the course (which we have done numerous times). We want to grow the game and introduce them to the amazing game of golf. They are well-behaved and always enjoy the experience. We were turned away by the pro shop exclaiming that they do not allow anyone under 16 on the course without approval from their golf pro, to ride or to PLAY? This was news to me... I have never had a kid, who we wanted to pay to play, turned away due to age. So we now had to have someone else drive to the course to pick up the kids and let them know they were not allowed to play golf. Terrible interaction at the pro shop and we will never be playing here again.
Beautiful course with great value.
For a hot deal it’s hard to beat. Very well taken care of course. Greens were not to slow and not too fast. Rolled true. Divot repair boxes on all par 3’s. Half way house at the turn with great drink options. Loved the new GPS’s as well. Overall had a great time.
Terrible pace of play. Marshal course management non-existent
This will be the last time I play this course due to terrible pace of play. Marshals are non-existent, so by the time you reach the back 9 plan on waiting at least 15 minutes PER HOLE before you can tee off. Avoid this course until they improve the pace of play.
Please be aware of pace of play by players that diminish the overall golf experience by others. Course was in beautiful shape and was unable to finish due to a pair of golfers that need more time ion the driving range to practice before playing on the course.
They need course Marshall’s
Course is decent. Good shape. Problem literally is the pace of play. Greens fees are lower than average I think, so brings out people who most likely shouldn’t be on the course or don’t understand etiquette of pick you ball up after 10 strokes. There are no actual Marshall’s on the course, just the occasional 16 year old that looks to work at the cart barn on the course. I assume he’s telling people to speed up, but unknown. I was a bad golfer long ago too, but I knew to keep. I also knew a golf lesson to my girlfriend or boyfriend didn’t happen on the actual course. I’d rather see my fees go up 10 bucks, see Marshall’s and not wait 5 minutes on every shot.
