About
Situated at the heart of Fairfield County, Richter Park Golf Course is situated along the West Lake Reservoir. The course has been ranked among not only the top ten golf courses in Connecticut but also as one of the top 25 public courses in the country. The course sprawls across more than 180 acres of gently rolling hills. Water has a prominent presence throughout, with the Reservoir bordering seven holes on the front nine and water hazards coming into play on a total of 14 holes. In addition to the water, there are a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic, which can make it a tough golf course to play your first time. Be prepared for a few blind shots. Richter Park's signature hole, the par-5 12th, is bordered by Boggs Pond. Your third shot will be over water to a bunkered green.

Extremely Firm Conditions
Unfortunately I didn't show up with my game yesterday, and I played 15 shots higher than my index of 10. With the fall leaves and multiple blind shots out to sharp sidehills, I lost quite a few golf balls. Besides the tee to green challenges, the greens were quick, firm and very difficult for me to read. Having a bit more knowledge of the course now, I would take great care with aiming at the right areas of the greens to avoid being short-sided.

If you like that sort of thing. I enjoyed the challenges that this course offered.
Great course but bring a lot of golf balls
This course is picturesque and is in perfect shape however bring a lot of golf balls with you because there are several water holes requiring carry either off the tee or on your approach.

Wetlands
Greens were firm and fast. Challenging. The landscape is incredible. Staffs were nice.
But the whole back nine fairways were muddy and wet, which will disappoint you from a quality golfing.
Round at Richter
Called in for lunch on the patio which was excellent then hit balls on the range - I don't like that they lost the par 4 tenth for a par 3 but I guess it's good to.warm up
The course layout and scenery is great if you like a lot of water and generally it's in good shape but showing wear and tare from a lot of rounds , especially the white tee boxes
The staff are excellent and Richter will always be a popular spot for me.
Connecticut great
One of the best public courses in CT. The course offers difficulty through their layout, bunker placement, and difficult greens with plenty of undulation. The greens were fast and true, but had some rough patches in the front 9. Overall it was a very pleasurable course to play, and I will be back again.
Beautiful course
Course is more like a park! Nice layout! Challenging holes. Golf carts are great! Pace of play is descent. Some holes are narrow and long. One of the top courses in the area.
Not what it used to be.
With the exception of the greens, the course was in terrible shape. Most of the boxes were terrible hard to find a patch of grass. The quality of the Fairways was very poor for $85. I expected much more the course used to be in much better shape, even the area around the chipping green was in bad , even the area around the chipping green was in bad shape unless they significantly/the price I would not recommend coming here. We also played three holes behind a group of six. We had to call the clubhouse to get a ranger to come out. Unless they significantly/the price I would not recommend coming here
Richter Delivers
Always an enjoyable round at Richter Park. First time ever I was paired with a dog! Single had her lab on the cart for the round. She was a very good girl. Course was in decent shape with some spots on greens they are struggling with to grow grass. And given the flooding in the area the course wasn’t too wet just the usual holes like 11, 15 &16. First time there this year. Have avoided due to higher greens fees. Thanks to Golf Now for the Hot Deal!
