Richter Park Golf Course

About
Situated at the heart of Fairfield County, Richter Park Golf Course is situated along the West Lake Reservoir. The course has been ranked among not only the top ten golf courses in Connecticut but also as one of the top 25 public courses in the country. The course sprawls across more than 180 acres of gently rolling hills. Water has a prominent presence throughout, with the Reservoir bordering seven holes on the front nine and water hazards coming into play on a total of 14 holes. In addition to the water, there are a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic, which can make it a tough golf course to play your first time. Be prepared for a few blind shots. Richter Park's signature hole, the par-5 12th, is bordered by Boggs Pond. Your third shot will be over water to a bunkered green.

Golf
Have not played there in over 15 years, and I didn’t
Remember how much I liked this course. It was so much fun to play and in such great condition. We truly enjoyed the course and would play it again.
beautiful course on a hot summer day
18 holes took 4.5 hours for our foursome. Only suggestion is to have additional cold water available on the course. There were two coolers. On a hot, hot summer day four coolers are safer.
New safety system on 6th hole
Was disappointed the new system on 6 was out of order. Safety is always an issue on 6…
Hope they fix it.
Always a great day at Richter
Richter is a very well maintained and beautiful course. Challenging but not impossible. It can get busy but they manage the volume well. Best course in the general area and the staff is great at every spot. Great bar and restaurant after the round.
Never disappoints
First time playing Richter this year. As always it never disappoints. Young lady at the pro shop was very pleasant, as well as the starter and the cart
Girl. All the geeens were flawless and rolling pretty fast. Very happy and satisfied with my round today. You guys won’t be disappointed
Legendary CT Course
I’ve heard about Richter for over 30 years and never had a chance to play it. I’ll definitely be back. Great course all around.
Staff issues
Course in decent condition with some challenging holes.
Staff at pro shop counter and snack bar not too friendly
When I asked the staff at pro shop about the price of a small ball marker, she said $16. When I asked whether that is the correct price since other courses would normally charge only about $4-$5 unless it’s a marker with a clip or divot repair.. she insisted that it was correct price but when my wife asked about the price of the same marker a few minutes later, she told her it’s $14.. price of any of the markers not labeled.
I stopped at the snack bar at the turn and asked for a Powerade and asked for the price..staff tells me it’s $4..she gave me change for the $20 bill I paid and I even gave her a tip, but later saw on the price list post outside that the price of a Powerade is $3.
Hope the staff be more honest and not try to cheat the customers.
Enjoy this course
I like this course very much. Interesting holes, layout is challenging, condition was better than average. A few rough patches here and there but overall very good. My only criticism on this day was that it was 87 degrees out we teed off at 2:20 and they stopped beverage cart at 2:15 because there weren't that many golfers on the course. Certainly not what we saw. Other than that peculiar decision, had a great time.
Great Time at Fundraising Event
Had a foursome for a charity event, scramble golf outing. The course was beautiful, well maintained, and the staff was very friendly throughout. It is definitely a challenging course.
Based on the other courses around, this is a must play every year. It can get pricey, but is worth the value for the quality.
Excellent shape but a little attitude
Fabulous shape for mid June. Tee to green not much to criticize. Starter has attitude, a few on course lectures on the cart paths by a local who thinks it’s his private club. Will be back.
