Too Many Groups Allowed On the Course
This is a 9-hole course that plays on the short side, so it quickly gets backed up. Last night was no different. Too crowded and slow. It took 2 hours for two of us to play 6 1/2 holes, and only one of us played the last 2 1/2 holes. Picked up on the 7th hole and headed to Giovanni's, which is a hidden gem here. If we had played the entire course, it would have taken more than 2 1/2 hours. That's just ridiculous. I know that courses don't like to say "no" to walk-ins, but you have to do it to preserve the experience for those of us who do take the time to make a tee time.
Fun course! Would play again.
This course was great! Enjoyed the mix of driver and iron holes. Only down fall to this course was having to take a very long walk to hole 8 and then to 9. I would definitely come back and play again.
As expected
Got the round in before the rain. Course drains well. In good shape.
A new bee
The course is beautiful, the staff was very friendly. I can’t wait to play golf again
Hi Jack. We appreciate you taking the time to review Minnechaug Golf Club. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting and we hope to see you again in the future.
Challenging nine holes
Each hole offers a challenge including out of bounds, strategic trees and bunkers, pitched fairways, island greens, woods and marsh grasses - easily raise scores from errant shots. For the most part the greens are in excellent condition, but like most public courses are slow. Subtle breaks can easily raise the total putts.
If one can get through the first two holes in par, thank the miracle gods. A strategic tree blocks approaches from center and right while out of bounds looms on the left of the first hole. A valley before the green can stop the ball from running up onto the green where slope puts a premium on a lose approach shot. The second hole offers marsh grass and woods right and left with out of bounds penalties. From elevated tee a long ball hitter can end up in one of two bunkers. The green is elevated and relatively flat. A tree guards it on the right, and links grass on hillside on the left. Chance for a birdy exists on the par five third hole. The three par three holes guarded by marsh grass or ponds put the premium on accurate tee shots.
Enjoy. If is a terrific value,
Great time
Played this older style 9 hole course with some friends and ended up going another 9. The staff was friendly and the have excellent breakfast sandwiches too.
Minnechaug golf course
Had a great time playing here good place to tune up your golf game, narrow fairways, smaller greens make for more conservative play which I like. Will definitely be playing here again
Practice
Greens were surprisingly nice. It's a nice little course to warm up or practice.
My tee time was 10:04am the course open at noon because of rain I lost my money because of rain golf now can not get a answer maybe I called to late?
Great staff
staff was very helpful getting us out on the course. It was a beautiful day so there were lots of players. The guys in the pro shop couldn't be any nicer. I will be back
Course Needs Work
Green are the only part if the course that is acceptable. Tees, Fairways, Approach areas and Traps are horrible. Either need to properly maintain this course or sell valuable land and build homes.
Good 9 hole course. Narrow with some challenging holes.
