Slow play this time
They finally allow 2 persons per cart. The course is in excellent shape. But this time the pace was very slow. There was a 6 groups outing playing best balls in front of us. They were going very slow. We had to wait almost every holes.
Going back
Already booked my next round here. It is a municipal course so I had considerations that were quickly dispelled. Great people running the place, well maintained and a great value. Challenging for better golfers and fair enough for average golfers like me.
Great Public Course
I thought twice about giving a positive review with the fear it will bring more folks to Oak Hills. But...had to. Funny thing is that I live in Norwalk but only discovered the course a season or two ago. I prefer to play public access courses like Pound Ridge. Please note - Oak Hills is not Pound Ridge...but for the price - absolutely a hidden gem. Always in great shape and the layout is nice with elevation changes and true 90 degree doglegs. Wish the greens were a bit faster and consistent. But otherwise a really great course and value.
awesome nice place
all staff perfect kindly served us
amazing nice management this is one of my favorite course
thank you very much all staff
Greens
Beautiful greens And the people who complain about the clover well you shouldn’t be in
FABULOUS
We drove to Connecticut from Long Island. We took the word of prior reviews as being a very nice experience of golf. The condition of the course was excellent. Greens are perfect ; however, not easy to put. Very Hilly. The weather made it even more wonderful. We will return.
good old style muni
good challenging course with a lot of ups and downs. A walkable course with plenty of exercise. Tough greens but if you have not played it is worth it.
recent oak hills experience
course was in great shape. the pace of play was a little slow, but i think that was more the cause of the weather than the golfers dogging it.
Tee times very close so play was slow
Staff very nice. Carts have new gps but need to loosen the driving restrictions. I had to back up out of the ruff 2 yards from the fairway. Frustrating
Great track!!
What a beautiful course and great great great greens!! Also the wildlife is was very active as there was a bobcat alongside 2nd tee box and @6 chickens wandering near 7 green. Absolute gem .
Variety is the spice of life
Really enjoyable place to play for all golfers. In our group, we had two beginners, a lower handicap as well as myself (higher handicap) and we all had our own challenges & victories during the round.
Aside from the well kept grounds, there's a lot of variety in the hole designs so you don't feel like you're playing the same one over & over. The first few holes are hidden away and mix up left or right dog legs in the woods. Later on you'll see more typical municipal layouts (parallel holes) but with more open, forgiving fairways. Keep your tee shots controlled early on and let loose as you hit the mid/later. Water does show up here & there.
Mid-round there are 3 (three!) opportunities to grab a beverage and something to eat, which is so rare it's worth a star on its own. End of the round facilities look ample enough to handle a crew who needs food & drinks at either the indoor or outdoor seating areas. Staff was also super nice.
Very walkable, too. Get out there!
Top of the heap municipal course
Incredibly well taken care of, a very interesting layout, requiring you to use every club in your bag. A great staff, and terrific conditions make this a must play course
