Very Interesting
Played there today with three Korean golfers. They spoke very little English or pretended not too. However It worked for me, I shot 77 from the blue tees so evidently when I have no one to talk to I have better concentration . After we finished the eighteenth hole I asked them how it felt to be beaten by a 75 year old? they still didn't say much. Anyway, the course was great even though it was cold
A delight
Great, sloping greens. A wide variety of holes. Well worth visiting again and again.
Well run, lovely people.
Paid for 1/2 a cart?!?!
I really enjoy Oak Hills, and since my move to Norwalk, it has been my "go-to" location in terms of a quick 9, or weekend 18. However, I've been very disappointed with the staff's demeanor. No one outside of the pro-shop is pleasant to talk to, or even gives you the time of day. The other (and bigger) issue I had was that I used a Gift Card for my round, and when I arrived, I had to pay an additional $18 on top of the $50 I paid to drive a cart because "apparently" I only ordered 1/2 a cart which makes no sense. I was put with a threesome of people who talked during every shot I took, didn't fix ball marks and divots, and even took phone calls during the round. I was thrilled I had my own cart, and can't imagine what my round would have been like had I had to share a cart with one of them. Next time, please make it clear if I'm only getting 1/2 a cart, as I would have changed my plans so I didn't have to play with that awful group, and didn't have to pay an extra $18 cash because the staff made it extremely difficult on me. Golf should be fun, not a hassle or frustrating because of bad staff, and even worse people to play with.
A local gem
Rarely have I played a local municipal course in such great shape. A very interesting layout that requires you to use every club in the bag. There is a great deal of risk-reward but you must execute or you are penalized. Fairways and greens are in great shape, rough high so you want to find the fairway
Really improved
The course was always interesting and in pretty good shape, but now it is in great shape. With new carts and pro shop, plus great conditions, it's a must play.
Pleasant course with one unfortunate hole (12th). Always in fine condition, it is not the longest course and compensating trouble is ample for the errant. A hit-it-straight- and-score-great course. Greens roll true. Staff is accommodating and real.
Nice improvements
Course was in the best shape I've ever seen. Rough was thick; greens were in great shape. Hoping to play there again soon.
Great layout .. condition were great
Had blast .. course was wet due to heavy rain from past couple of weeks .. but still good course.. played at noon with 1 walker .. so we started at 12 and done at 4 sharp ..
it was fun .. good layout
Great course
Loved the course layout used just about every club in my bag. The course improvements are phenomenal. I really enjoyed this challenging course. Can’t wait to play it again.
Excellent Condition
Played hete 5/9/18, course was in excellent condition. Play time was good. Didnt have yo wait long to tee off. Will play here again.
greens are good during the regular season
the greens are coming back from earlier aeration but are still playable. during the regular season this course is always good to play and has some holes you can score on.
First and last time playing
Went to the course expecting to be able to grab a Gatorade or coke before my round. The pro shop laughed at me and said, "we have sanitation issues we can't serve anything." I had four kids in front of me who never hit it more than 50-100 yards off the tee. Pace of play was arduously slow. Also the course layout is a joke. 8 is a part 5, 9 is a part 5, 10 is a part 5, and 12 is a part 5. Last, but certainly not least the cart monitors how you drive at all time. A fairway was not labeled as cartpath only so when I drove into it my cart stopped in the middle of the fairway and I had to reverse out. What a joke. Save your money.
Cold day-course in great shap
Blustery afternoon and did not expect course to be in great shape. Surprise. They had removed most of the fallen branches and leaves, and it was in better than expected shap. Played alone and only a few other crazy people out. Under 3 hours walking with a cart.
Great deal, nice course.
I know it's March
I know it's only March and the green fee's were discounted with advisory warnings (walking only and two holes under construction), but you could at least put flagsticks out there with actual flags on them and place tee box markings (where the blues and whites are) if you're going to be open to the public and charge money to play.
That said, I do like the course under normal conditions and would recommend it to friends.
