3rd: par-4, 430. This Cape design tempts you to take the shortest route down the fairway toward the green (on left). Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

7th, par-3, 220. A well-guarded and contoured green; a pleasant backdrop. Seen here from its left flank. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

8th: par-4, 352. Green complex at this short and steeply downhill hole--made perilous by a pond. Eagle potential, however. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

Sixteen is another excellent, long par-4 concluding on this green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

18th, par-5 of 588. The signature hole? I’ll go for that. Great bunkering from Mungeam. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

Great course in excellent condition and fun layout
I played this course for the first time and I was very impressed. The course is tucked away with in a secluded area. You only see golf holes and nature around you. It was in excellent condition. The tall fescue in select parts of the course and by the bunkers looked beautiful and provided a very nice mix of colors. The layout was interesting and provided great variety. I would definitely come back or recommend this place to friends.
Connecticut national
Wow one of the nicest courses I've played. Fairways were plush...and the greens were like carpet...smooth and speed was perfect. Some of the hardest greens to putt on though. Not a flat putt anywhere but I loved it. Pace of play was horrible though. 3 of us and took 5 and half hrs due to two 3somes in front of us who should be hitting from the gold or even the women's tees...they weren't hitting the ball but 140-170 yards with their driver and played tees further back. Made for a very long day....and they didn't let us play through. In the middle of nowhere but I will definitely be back next time I'm up from NC.
Beautiful scenic view and well maintained
Golf courses were great shaped and well maintained.
I was enjoying while I was playing except hot humid weather. Some sand flies were bothering when I put on the greens. 7000 yards were black tee. I wanted to play back tee as a pro but fairway narrow some holes and it was easy to loose ball if I missed shooting.
I’d like to come back here again but the road going golf course wasn’t good shape, narrow and rural style of road. I came from NYC, taking me to get there almost 3 hours. It was memorable golf course and it was almost mountain courses as Pocono, PA.
Beautiful track
One of my favorites in NE Connecticut…price is right conditions always great greens superb
Where's the on course Ranger?
Another 5 hour round at Connecticut National. Starter rushing us early to the first tee so we can join two other groups on hole #1...ensuring a very slow round for everyone...
Pleasant, fair, but so so slow!
The course layout makes sense. It’s fair and most holes have good sight lines. Nothing gimmicky except for a few short par 4s - needed local knowledge to know what to hit off the tee on those.
Not a bad lie anywhere - refreshing. Not quite private club level maintenance, but really good for a daily fee course. The greens were not fast, but were true and subtle. The course was not nearly as hard as reviewers here suggest. It’s pretty short from all tees except the tips. There are no stressful shots/carries. (Thus, the rating and slope are pretty average).
A lot of inexperienced players everywhere made for a slow, noisy round. The holes are close together and voices were carrying. It was a problem. 5+ hour round on a Friday afternoon would have sucked if the weather hadn’t been spectacular.
Staff was friendly. Restaurant had good food. Cart girl was efficient and came around a few times. Practice area includes a separate short game area. Range was mats only for no obvious reason.
Too far a drive for me to play again but worth trying if you’re within an hour.
Return to the course
Played this course a few times & that why I keep returning.
Great Course and nice friendly staff.
MUST PLAY
Best Public course in New England!
Greens were so fast today! So this is what REAL golf feels like! Favorite 18-hole course in New England. Best value too on Golf Now app
The staff in the pro shop and the starter were very friendly. The course was very well maintained and the greens rolled nicely. Pace of play was extremely slow which may have been prevented if there was a ranger. Great course to play.
First time - 5 star golf course
This course has so many different style of holes, tee to green is rather simple, greens are tricky, below average golfers can struggle with the undulations and breaks. Definitely a course where you can’t wait to play again !!
Worth the trip
Traveled 1:45 minutes to get there. Was worth every mile driven. Course conditions all around are great . The one thing that was difficult was the greens. Very very tough . Didn’t like the pin placements.really unfair and borderline impossible without 3 putting. I am a10-11 handicap and the course itself was pretty standard, the greens were a little over the top that made my final score a bit high. Although I do recommend this course and you venture out to play this course , you. Will see I’m not aggregating the difficulty of the greens. It’s still worth the trip. Good. Luck..
Good value / tough location to get to
Overall, this course is in terrific shape and has some very fun holes within the 18. Not an overall tough course, but there are some pitfalls along the way that you can easily avoid after you learn where they are. Two par fours are drivable for single handicappers. Three of the par fives are reachable in 2. Whole number one is a par five and whole number 18 as a part five. Greens are in terrific shape, although could be faster. The restaurant is not really big but looks like they recently did a renovation and the menu is a full dinner menu versus a typical golf club with a few selections. Pro shop is basically a cashier with just a few items not a place you would go to buy golf gear.
The biggest drawback for me was this courses location. Unless you live somewhere on 395 getting there from the west is a long tedious and a boring ride. It’s a good 40 minutes once you get off route 84 E, and you’ll be on no less than six different roads. Many of the roads are 25 mph and very curvy. Having said that, I like the course enough to say I’ll live with the long ride to play it again. $75 w/cart.
Great course, disappointing service
The course is in great shape and is pretty challenging (for reference I’m a 7 handicap who plays from the tips). The greens are the most difficult I’ve played so far. You have to pay attention to where you want to put the ball on the green when chipping, otherwise you’re going to be off the green.
You get unlimited range balls, which is awesome if you’re like me and play courses that make you pay $10+ for a few dozen.
The only knock on this place is that after I played my round I wanted a beer and burger and when I went to the clubhouse pub I was completely ignored until no one else was in the bar area. I get that I’m not a local and I was the only person the bartender didn’t know on a first name basis, but I’ve been in the industry for over a decade and that’s just unacceptable. So instead I drove somewhere else for dinner. I know the $30ish I would’ve spent isn’t going to bankrupt the place but I can’t help but wonder how many people this happens to and how much business the course loses.
Anyway, great course, was just a little disappointed to be utterly ignored when all I wanted to do was throw back a few beers and stuff my face.
