Southington Country Club

Twosome behind our foursome hit into us. Groundskeeper yelled at us for being in a roped off area, BUT, it was not fully roped off and we drove thru the opening. Course is challenging, greens were in great condition, rough was too high for me to get out (Sr. citizen, female). I'd play here again because it's less than 8 miles away. I did comment to the 3 men in my group that the course seems unfair for women because there were no other women there!!!

The Starter was both rude and clueless. First off he asks what time we are. We tell him. Then he asks if we know what time it is. He has no watch?!?! LOL. Shouldn't this be a prerequisite for a Starter job??? He then made us wait while the late foursome in front of us who were still in the parking lot with one member not even on site. We asked the Starter if our group could go, but no, he made us wait while this group arrived late to the tee. They weren't just slow arriving for their time, but throughout the round. It would have made more sense to give them our time since they were not ready and let us go, since the hole was open. But he refused. No clue.

The course also does not allow people to take separate carts or provide a divider in the carts, so apparently not concerned about the virus either. Yet inside the bar, there are massive plastic shields separating the bartenders from the patrons. Like a bubble effect.

What a bunch of nonsense...

Starter was very condescending. We all know almost 95% of courses do not permit coolers, but he went greatly out of his way to discover a few beers inside it, further directing us in a condescending manner to take it back

To the car. Played 18 holes and never saw the beverage cart once. If you enjoy a few cold beers and a round of golf this is not the course for you. Stiff competition in CT for my $60 so, moving forward, I will go to one that offers a beverage cart!

Should read the fine print. No refunds regardless. ( unless course closes). My buddy who was supposed to play has symptoms of Covid 19 there for we weren’t going to risk it. I will never ever use golf now app. Couldn’t even find a way to call or email to explain the circumstances. For the few dollars I would of saved I’m now out $88.00. Read the fine print!!! Called the golf course and they were understanding wish I could say the same for Golfnow app.

Course is maintained well and the staff is very accommodating. The issue was with the pace of play. 2-3 groups bunched up on various holes and a lot of waiting.

Knew it was going to be hot & humid but the course is in excellent condition. Excited to play and saved money using GolfNow. Most unfortunate for me to be "greeted" by a pro-shop attendant who had a really bad attitude, and almost made me want to ask if he liked his job. He didn't offer of a scorecard, reluctantly gave me one. When I asked if he had a pencil, which usually accompanies a request for a scorecard, I thought for a moment he was going to flip out. Then...I get to the starter who must have been drinking the same pro-shop coffee, he ALSO had a real surly attitude. I noticed when putting my clubs in my cart that there were several cars with NY plates. No big deal, right? When I was told to go out with a threesome, I was told that "language might be a problem" and I inquired if the group was from NY. One of the players was wearing a mask, the only one in the group. I was then told "That's what you get when you play with GolfNow." The tone of voice was almost condescending. Doesn't make me want to play there anymore and that's a shame because it is what I USED to consider my home course.

Course standards were spot on !

An inconvenient series of back and forth between golf now & Southington country club forced me to pay $50 for a round that I was unable play. I received no voucher, no refund, so unfortunately I will never play here again. You really hate to see this type of customer service.

Tee time was 7:24 am for 18 holes and I, at age 76, played with 2 gentlemen. One played from the blue tees(why, I don't know) other from the white tees. My slope was 121 and I did struggle but not because of the course but because I'm now almost blind in my left eye and my challenge was just seeing the ball and I've only played 4 - 9 hole rounds at another course and before that was last October. I did stay in the low 90's which is right near my handicap. More rounds, it will go down . Today my short game failed me.! I will go back after some practice.

For a full house Saturday with elevated rates capitalizing on Covid-19, the course could have cut the rough and certainly should have blown the greens off, which were covered by tree fallen "debris." The tee box grass was also too long, covering most of the tee.

If you are going to charge top dollar, prep the course first.

As always conditions were A+ throughout the entire golf course.

They need to lower their prices.

Last year rounds with cart were posting for under $25. This year $45 to $55!!

This will be my last round here unless they offer better GOLFNOW.COM PRICES!
