Well groomed golf course this is challenging
Southington country club has an outstanding maintenance staff who takes pride in their work. Over the past 7 years I've been playing there, there are continuous improvements being made around the course.
From tee to green, take notice how well kept the tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens are maintained. The rough is thick and cut to a decent length allowing you to find your ball.
Although the course is not long, the tight fairways require accuracy of tee shots. The greens can be challenging with slope and speed.
Restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio for drinks and dining.
Customer Satisfaction
Our overall experience with the Southington Country Club was definitely rewarding .
All staff members were cordial and helpful.
The course conditions were very good and the design layout was challenging but not frustrating
After our round , we visited the lounge and were extremely impressed with the service and fair menu and beverage prices . We will definitely book future Tee-Times at The Southington Country Club.
Late to tee off
We had scheduled tee times for 9:12. When we arrived we saw that they were getting ready for a tournament. When the starter first saw us, he said we would not be able to get us out. After I informed him we had tee times, he said he would try to get us off the back between groups making the turn. We got off 25 minutes late and the round lasted 4 hours and 45 minutes.
Great course
Beautiful course great layout with a few challenging holes totally recommend
Nice layout, not a long course from the blues(6000 yards) except for one challenging par 3 248 yard hole.
good course had to wait every shot every hole 4 1/2 hours for 9 holes very disappointing
Great Value
Foursome played Friday 4/28/17. Course in very good shape considering recent rain. Staff very friendly. Exceptional restaurant & patio. Sometimes we come here just for the food.
Tough day
Pin placements were toughest locations I've seen. Shot ok but couldn't score well due to the greens. If you play the break it goes straight and if you play it straight it breaks a mile. Lol. Still enjoyed the day thou
Don't play alone
Was excited to play alone I needed to get my round over fairly quickly.... hardly any cars in the parking lot but quickly got behind a foursome and then a fivesome.... yes a fivesome of 65-year-old ladies. Foursome did not try to keep play going... slowly walking off greens or ask me to play through so I moved on and then quickly got behind a fivesome. Ended up only playing 12 holes my point being is they should've set me off the back if they knew a single was gonna running to foursome and a fivesone. Overall like the course I think it's interesting. I guess I wish I was paired up with someone so it didn't seem like I had to wait.
A course you must play
Loved the challenging up and down fairways and some narrow approach shots. Layout is a little close as you could very easily be in another holes fairway with a slightly errand shot.
Perfect Day
Beautiful Fall day. First time at Southing CC. Everyone we met were friendly and helpful. Course is in excellent condition. Some of the best greens we've played on all year.
Good track, give it a try
A bit on the short side but a lot of variation in the holes. Greens were great and so was the fairway and rough.
Challenging Par 5's and very nice course conditions
Have played this course 5 times this year. Course conditions have been consistently excellent, with fairways and greens in perfect condition. The rough in many places on the course is thick, presenting an extra challenge to the high handicapper. Two par 5's on the front, holes 4 and 6, are long and uphill with unforgiving greens that slope back toward the fairway. If you don't place it well on the green, you could be putting all day long on these two holes (at least up to your ESC limit). The front 9 is more challenging than the back, as the front has the aforementioned par 5's, but there are many elevation changes as well, and no real water to be concerned about. The back nine has a few tighter fairways, a short par 3 at #12, a sharp dogleg at #13, and the 200 yard par 3 at #15 with a small, sloped green often serves to frustrate many golfers and ruin your mindset for the balance of the round. You can't be too far left on your second shot on the #14 par 5.....pretty wide open over there with a nice approach to the green from the left.
The Back 9 Tavern is wonderful, with ample beer selection, great food, and good service from the bar and waitstaff.
Decent Course
Decent course, not a great layout but conditions of the greens were good. Front nine is better than the back. The back nine is very tight.
Bad cart.
Great course & condition. Pro shop guy was a little chatty& the cart was squeeling and jerking our heads off.
Nice course
Have played here several times. This year, course in very good shape. Greens are in excellent condition. Really like playing here.
Southington visit
Course has a few elevation changes, more on the front, so club selection is important. Greens were very nice, enjoyed putting on them. Back nine has holes that require placement of the ball off the tee. Not a long course, but still very enjoyable, stop if ever in the area.
