Good Value
3 some , played in 3:20 minutes
Other than the bunkers course in great shape
Bunkers need work
Greens rolled true but a little slow
$37 senior rate
Just a thought , the 11th hole I needs to reversed
Plays into prevailing wind - 635 yds into the wind - flip and it would play downhill - I play here 3-4 times a year and it has never been downwind
SLOW Greens
Good course to visit. Friendly staff. SLOW Greens. Greens are soooo slooow, you could hit it with a driver on greens and not reach the hole. LOL
June 05, Golf Club of America
Great staff, on course and inside. Pace of play perfect, no pushing and no waiting. Course in great condition.
Hard as rock
It's been a dry spring, but apparently they don't water the course or tee boxes which were so hard you couldn't get a plastic tee into the ground. The greens were fine, and it's an interesting course. It was still nice to get out.
Rock hard greens
Almost impossible to hold greens from fairways!
As with a lot of courses this year, water is a luxury!
Windy City
Golf club of IL is a good course with some tough holes. One being a 600 yard par 5. The greens aren’t in the best shape but it’s early. Has a few water hazards that come into play. This makes the 18th hole a lot tougher. I would definitely play again
Customer service lacking
Purchased a tee time through Golfnow, prepaid. Upon checking in the pro shop the individual checked the puter and advised that everything was fine. The next comment was that I owed $10 per golfer for the cart. I told him that it was included in the price i that i had paid on-line. He replied that he had notified Golfnow and told them that the advertised price was for walking. No problem tendered the clerk or pro, the requested money , got a cart key and teed off shortly thereafter. The additional cost was not the issue, the ISSUE was the way the clerk or pro came across with his demeanor. Ok thats off my chest, The golf course is in good shape, except for the bunkers. Would only come back here as a last resort.
Poor Weekend Golf Experience
This course is a bit further than I typically like to venture for an early afternoon round, but I wanted to give it a shot for my second visit.
My arrival to the pro shop about 20 minutes before my tee time was met with an empty pro shop and it wasn’t until a cart boy noticed me waiting inside until he was able to get someone from the staff to come to the pro shop to check me in. The lady who checked me in asked for my golf now reservation number, something I’ve never been asked for in over 100 rounds of golf at various courses using Golfnow.
She got me my cart key and told me I could head over to the first tee as their starter had gone home for the day. I warmed up on the putting green for a few minutes before teeing off, only to realize there was another single ahead of me and then a foursome.
I ended up pairing up with the other single, but then we hit a roadblock of slow play by the foursome ahead of us, and when we tried to slow down a bit, there was then another group catching up to us and several other smaller groups behind them that jammed up the course. While slow weekend golf is the norm, they needed to have a starter to create pairings vs just letting people head out and then hit a roadblock with a slower group out there.
I only played 9 before calling it quits as the slow play and colder temps made it an unpleasant experience.
