Garrisons Lake Golf Club
About
Garrisons Lake Golf Club, nine miles north of Dover, is a historic play centrally located to all parts of Delaware. The course is nature friendly: with tree-lined fairways and large, well bunkered greens throughout. The par-72, 7,060-yard course was recently renovated and improved, and players of all abilities will be confronted with a fair challenge. Not that there aren’t hurdles. Garrisons Lake is book-ended by two long plays: The 535-yard, par-5 first features out of bounds along the left side, and the 536-yard 17th features a challenging tee shot with trees on the right side. Garrisons Lake Golf Club also has a bustling practice range, putting green, golf shop and snack bar.

Greens were excellent
Course in great shape, rained for two days prior to round. Only one hole cart path only. Greens were great.
We will be back
Played 10/10 with my wife. Enjoyable course for my wife from front tees. I am an 11 and a senior. I played from the white tees. I might move to blue if I play again as some of the shorter holes seemed very tight from the white tees. Course we in great shape. The greens had been fertilized but rolled real nice. Almost no ball marks. Fairways and tees were also in great shape. We drove down from Delco Co. PA. It was about 1 hr 15 min ride but wE will be back soon.
Good course for the money
they just had the greens aerated, one of the greens on par 3 by the road on the front could be better. Drove about an hour to get there, not sure I would travel that far again for it but for the price I got it at, $22.00, I would play again. The course was really tight, couldnt tell sometimes if the group in front of me was on my hole or the other.
garrison lake golf
This course is great as my wife is a learner and she has no problems playing this course. The staff are very friendly and remember your name when you come up. I will be playing there more.
Great Course for Your Money
Well manicured, greens in excellent shape. Was very happy with the course and had fun playing course.
Tree line course. Have to place tee ball in the fairway
Great challenging course.greens were excellent ,fairways were good. Will continue to play this course. Breaking 80 is very good score at this course. Can't say enough about this golf course. You will have fun. Different holes ,different scenario. Play this golf course and score well will give great confidence to your golf game.
in great shape
the course is flat and in great shape,,,greens and tee boxes awesome enjoyed and will return
Very nice course.
Fun round of golf, great pace of play. Greens are looking much better.
very good challenge
Would be great help, if the staff would have yardage signs on the temp greens under repair (8 &10)
A real challenging course
Garrison's Lake is an excellent test for the true golfer. The greens were in excellent shape. The holes provided a real test of your golfing skill.
Greens need work
This is typically a great course. But the greens have a fungus from this past summer and hopefully the staff will get it under control.
Average value for the price.
For this time of year the course was in average conditions except the greens. I rate the greens in poor conditions due to the fungus/disease I found on several. Number 18 was the worst of the bunch.
Garrisons Lake Revisited
Went back to Garrisons Lake yesterday. It was probably the closest course open after all the snow in the past month. I had played here years ago driving down from SW Philadelphia and I didn't have a clear recollection of many holes... some of the 4s are a little repetitious but the fives are nice and the back side features a couple stylish 3s. This is a legitimate golf course with plenty of length. Easily walkable though I rode with three very nice guys, whom I met at the course. The shop / clubhouse is Spartan but clean and very well organized. The operation itself is well organized. The pro could not have been any more accommodating. He even walked me out to the putting green to introduce me to the players I'd be with. Pace of play was compromised by the cart paths only (a legit rule this time of year). Fairways and greens (bunkers too) were winterized but in good shape. I didn't have time for eats and I don't believe they were set up for eats yet. It's very early in the season and I wish GLGC best for the 2014 campaign. They are working hard on a course that will come around with the weather but their customer service is a genuine strength. Price was fair and booking was simple.
Great Course
The course was in very good condition. The greens were medium speed. Overall it was very nice. Don't go looking for a fancy club house.
greens should be roughs
while the fairways were in generally good shape ' the greens were poor ; large bare spots. it's ashame, the tree lined fairways make for a great setting.
Easy to Moderate challenge
Course was in decent shape, had a few rough spots and 1 or 2 greens with dry patches but overall not too bad. Decent value for the $. Would recommend if local and/or on a budget.
Excellent course
Nice challenging course with lots of dogleg par 4's. best sand I have seen in a long time. Great stopover course traveling to Ocean City, Maryland. I'll be back
Good course
The course was overall a lot of fun. No difficult forced carries or hazards in the middle of fairways is definitely a bonus for me. Large greens with some interesting breaks made putting a challenge (in a good way). Trees scatter most areas just off the fairways which penalize bad drives but not so much to the point that par is out of the question with a decent pitch-out or (if you have the line) approach to the green.
Greens and fairways in general were well manicured, but at least 2 greens were burnt and hard with little grass around the edges. Most putts rolled true during the day, though.
I'd suggest studying the course map or bringing one with you, as some holes are difficult to figure out from the tee box.
For such a low rate I think we got more than we expected and will definitely make a point of coming back.
greens are bad
The course has been great all year but, the greens have died in the last two weeks. They say its Wet Rot from so much rain and heat.
