Garrisons Lake Golf Club
About
Garrisons Lake Golf Club, nine miles north of Dover, is a historic play centrally located to all parts of Delaware. The course is nature friendly: with tree-lined fairways and large, well bunkered greens throughout. The par-72, 7,060-yard course was recently renovated and improved, and players of all abilities will be confronted with a fair challenge. Not that there aren’t hurdles. Garrisons Lake is book-ended by two long plays: The 535-yard, par-5 first features out of bounds along the left side, and the 536-yard 17th features a challenging tee shot with trees on the right side. Garrisons Lake Golf Club also has a bustling practice range, putting green, golf shop and snack bar.

Course is taken good care of.
No club house nor alcohol license. If you want a bite to eat you get a choice of hot dog or chicken cheese sauge link. And again no alcohol.Several years again this was a really nice course with a club house and you could take clients, have business outings, etc. Not much of a golf course anymore.
Nice coarse.......................................
Coarse in great shape/ greens were beautiful........
Nice course. Lots of tree lined fairways & bunkers.
I'm new to golf so this course was quite challenging to me. There is not much room for errant shots.
The greens were pretty slow due to sand and previous nights rain. In better conditions they would have been much more challenging.
Plenty of seed/fill around the tee boxes & on the golf carts to encourage players to participate in course maintenance.
Stay out of the rough. Fun and challenging.
I played alone so was done in 2.5 hours. I was warned about the rough. Had a great time. The course is a lot of fun and certainly challenged me from the blue tees. You want to get greedy in the rough and go for the great shot. Don't do that.
Very fun course!
Greens were in great shape,Fairways as well! Staff was exellent and informal! Beautiful setting( quiet country setting)
Challange course , recent staff changes not good!!
Very unfriendly and rude staff. Got there early, asked to tee off early since the place was empty.
I was told "no, thats why we have tee times" in a very rude manner.
I waited the 1/2 hour and not one player tee'd off in that time.
Tree lined course - greens slow but true - well maintained
Tree lined course, slow but true greens. Will visit again.
Course was in good condition
The course was in good condition. My only negative comment is that we got there 1/2 hour early and there was no one going out in front of us yet they made us wait for our tee time; thus backing up the next three groupings.
the greens were the best i have seen anywhere else.
the day was great along with every part of this course.
from the tee box, fairways, to the greens only the rough needed to be cut shorter. i will come back to play very soon, thanks for a great day Ken Monico
The course was in good shape.
I had arrived at Garrison Lake Golf Course 30 minute before my reserved Tee time. The same Tee time was booked by 2 others golfers sharing the same Tee Time. One of the golfer was late arriving and I was force to wait on him till he got there. Which was 20 minutes late for the reserved Tee Time. Very unfair to make me wait on a some one i don't know and who had missed their Tee Time. One hour had past before I were allowed ton the Tee box. Paired with some one i never met and late for the Tee Time. The course wasn't crowded and there was no one on the Tee Box during the 25 minutes wait to tee off..Here's my Question if he was a NO SHOW, now how would the Course had handle that situation? I was force to wait 20 minutes after my Tee Time and then continue to wait another 10 minutes for the next group who had just arrived for their tee time while they prepared , NOT FAIR and very unprofessional!!!
The course played difficult today because of wind and many trees.
I enjoyed the round today even though my driver was not cooperating. Many trees got in the way of my ball flight. The course itself was in good shape except around the greens where rough is suppose to be. Several shots I found my ball in bear spots whish made chipping difficult. The green speed was also to slow to my liking. When I put down hill I expect the ball to get within two feet of the hole not four. The price through Golf Now was to good to believe but believe It, I played 18 holes with cart for a total of $15.99. Enough said.
Good layout, challenge for average golfers.
I have played here many times, before and after it was renovated. It has always been a challenge, there are many trees and course demands accurate shots. It is now in good condition, and the greens run true. They have just been punched(4/1/13) and now getting back to they're true putting conditions. All in all course is in good condition and the price is reasonable.
very nice
great course to play nice selection of spaced holes.
you will enjoy playing there.
nice course, fabulous greens
winter golf and entire course was in great shape, balls rolled really well on the greens. cold weather left us with some long approach shots, gotta head back when it's warm. well maintained, lots of staff on course.
This is a no frills course.
The gentleman behind the desk was not particularly friendly. When asked if there was an available tee time earlier (it was winter and cold with only a few patrons around), he was dismissive and actually seemed bothered by the question and simply parroted the reserved tee-time.
The course was replete with tree limbs, branches and debris including on the fairway.
The driving range did not have rubber tees on which to place the balls and there were few targets at which to hit the balls.
The clubhouse was a trailer, but it did have a nice flat screen TV. I did not see a place to eat after the 9th hole.
The pro was friendly and engaged my golf friend and I in conversation, even providing a helpful bit of advice.
The only redeeming value was the price through Golf Now.
good course and conditions , moderate difficulty , good pace of play.
Garrisons Lake course does not have abundant water hazards as the name would indicate , nor many waste areas to carry. A reasonable number of fairway and greenside bunkers coupled with treelined fairways are the obstacles to navigate here. That said , in many cases you can get reasonable shots from under trees if you miss a fairway. Played in January , the conditions were fine for winter. Also the management group seems to be doing a fine job. Booked as a golfnow hot deal the value for the $ was high. Went solo and was paired with extremely friendly locals.
Good course. Would like to play it in the warmm weather.
I played this course about 5 years ago. It was having some difficulries with a local builder. The course had to be closed for serval years. It was sold to the state of Delaware and the changes they made was an improvement. The staff were very courtious and friendly. The ony problem we had was leaves and greens not cleared of leaves and other small obstructions. This is not unusal for winter play.
The wide tree lined fairway and generally flat with not too many bunkers are easy for all level golfers. Also well maintenanced courses are pleasing.
This golf course is well designed in sequence from the starting hole to the ending hole automatically linked smoothly without confusing on direction for next hole. You don't need familiarized nor memorized the course layout. Moderate water hazards are challenging.
