Garrisons Lake Golf Club

About
Garrisons Lake Golf Club, nine miles north of Dover, is a historic play centrally located to all parts of Delaware. The course is nature friendly: with tree-lined fairways and large, well bunkered greens throughout. The par-72, 7,060-yard course was recently renovated and improved, and players of all abilities will be confronted with a fair challenge. Not that there aren’t hurdles. Garrisons Lake is book-ended by two long plays: The 535-yard, par-5 first features out of bounds along the left side, and the 536-yard 17th features a challenging tee shot with trees on the right side. Garrisons Lake Golf Club also has a bustling practice range, putting green, golf shop and snack bar.

Improving
Fairways to Greens are in good shape compared to when I last played a year or two ago. The greens are slow but decent. Great overall value for the dollar.
Rangers were bothersome
Rangers came up to us three separate times stating that we needed to pick up our pace of play. We had a group in front of us that we continuously had to wait on, yet the rangers continued to bother us. We finished our round in almost exactly 4 hours, which on a crowded Sunday seems like the appropriate pace of play. Don't think I'll be visiting them anymore there are better options in lower Delaware.
Good beginners course
I like this course but the carts or cart paths are not in good shape. The greens sometimes have sand on them making it near impossible to make putts.
Improvements
Greens and fairways were the best I’ve ever seen them. Consistent and no dead areas even with the recent heat. Next improvement needs to be the cart paths but course looks great.
Pleasantly surprised
Played 7/5. Went in thinking it was going to be a cow pasture but was pleasantly surprised. Nothing special about it but it’s a good value for the money, as far as playing goes. No bar for drinks or food but there’s snacks available. More dog left lefts then I’m used to but nothin you can do about it. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in good shape. Stay away from the trees and you should score pretty well.
course in good shape
Course in good shape. We need rain in the area but greens were great. Sand bunkers were hard as a rock, and could use some rake work, but as hot and dry as it has been, I don't know if that would help.
Great Course but couple use some improvements
I love this course as it’s close to my house and relatively a great course. I personally think that the cart paths need to be fixed because they are awful, there needs to be some sort of concession stand that I can get some basic food from (burgers, hotdogs etc)
Make these small improvements and it will bring in new revenue
Dodged sprinklers on the back nine....
I enjoy playing Garrison's at least once a week and like the changes completed over the past year or so. Wednesday was unusually hot and we are in the middle of a mini draught so I can appreciate the work the grounds crew was doing to keep the course and greens watered. However, it seemed I spent the majority of the back nine dodging active sprinklers on tee boxes, in fairways and around the greens. I was walking the course and literally had to duck around the water sprays, hit my ball and duck back out before the spray came back around. It also seemed that the grounds crew was watering each green on the next hole, which I had to wait 5-10 minutes for the crew to finish watering the greens to hit my approach shot while simultaneously ducking the sprinklers in the fairway. This exercise made the back nine less than enjoyable.
Ranger Mike did a great job getting slow twosome moving quicker.
Garrisons Lake
Course is getting worked on! But it is coming together. Greens are in great shape. Bunkers need some attention and maintaining weeds in the fairways are getting better. This can be a very nice course as long as they keep heading on its current path. Looking forward playing it again.
Garrisons Lake Golf
Course is coming together after years of no money put into it. Fun course but no kitchen and no alcohol sold. Will play again.
Course is in very good shape
Kudos to the staff for all of the effort that they have put into upgrading the course.
meh
greens have rebounded from severe aeration and rolled good, but still a bit fuzzy. Still don't understand WHY there is sand in only 5 or 6 traps on entire course?? The rest are concrete mix w/ plenty of stones and dirt! Is there a shortage of sand to go around? Please fix Troon Golf.
