Worst shape ive seek it
Usually tip top. Bunkers and Tee Boxes were trash. Most Greens untouched. We will not be playing next season
Ameneties
Since the course doesn't have GPS, I used an app on my phone. Not one cart's charger worked, and I checked them all, phone died and I finished without distance guidance. No Bev cart on an extremely hot day. went to buy bottled water at the turn, and bar had only ONE bottle left
5.5 hour round
Management did every cheap trick in the book.
Tighten tee time intervals (9 min instead of 10), don't enforce pace of play, take the coolers and ice out of every cart, send the drink cart girls out to try and sell overpriced drinks while you're sitting on the tee box waiting for the group ahead, put someone on the par 3 to try and collect donations. Don't put in Cart GPS.
Management decided to allow a fraternity golf outing to be hosted on a Saturday morning, then sent people off immediately after the outing. Frat guys of course golfed at a 5.5 hour pace. Rather than do anything about the outing's pace of play, they sent the ranger out to tell us to "make sure you keep up with the group in front of you, that might make them speed up". We waited literally every tee.
Course layout is target golf. Rarely do you use driver. Every tee shot has water in play, with the exception of maybe 2 holes. Every green has difficult approaches over bunkers, false fronts, caries over water. Streams run through several holes, you also have water that runs around the sides of several holes. It's an interesting layout but given the ability of the average golfer that plays it, it's far too difficult, which slows down pace of play. Very few scores in the frat outing were less than 3-digits.
No range, if you wanted to warm up, you did so at a simulator stall that you had to rent. The simulator stopped reading shots after a few swings.
Conditions were good with the exception of the Par 3 tee boxes - full of divots. Fairways were fine, rough was fine, greens were fine (not fast, normal).
Too many low handicap golfers.
I realize you are in the business of booking tee times, but there were too many first time golfers for my liking.
The course overall was in good shape. The tee boxes were not. very beat up.
Fairways and greens were excellent. Kudos to the maintenance people. However, Sand traps were in bad shape.
My son and I played late in the day which explains the slow to pace.
Good layout but too many other courses to play.
Nice course!
Greens were in perfect condition. (Players need to fix ball marks!). Rough was perfect. Sand in bunkers could use some softening up. Overall, nice course, nice club house and friendly staff.
Great Course Poor Staff
This was a beautiful and very well-kept course. The grounds looked great, and up until the issue we had, everything seemed fine. My brother and I booked a 5:50 PM tee time for 18 holes, and I rented clubs for him since he was playing golf for the first time.
Before starting, we were told carts had to be returned by 8 PM, which was understandable. The course itself advertises an expected pace of about 4.5 hours for 18 holes, so we assumed that once the carts were returned, we would simply walk the remainder of the course if needed.
However, once we reached the halfway point, a staff member informed us that not only did the cart need to be returned, but we also could not use push carts and needed to return the rental clubs as well. This was never clearly explained beforehand. Since my brother is right-handed and I’m left-handed, the rental clubs were the only clubs he could use, so that basically meant he could no longer continue playing at all.
When I asked what options we had since we had only completed 9 holes of the 18 we paid for, the response was essentially “that’s up to you.” The staff member repeatedly said it was “common knowledge” that once dusk hits, golfers are done playing. As someone who is still fairly new to golf (this was only my fourth time out), I found the interaction very dismissive and unwelcoming toward beginners.
What frustrated me most was the lack of communication beforehand. If a 5:50 PM tee time realistically cannot complete 18 holes, especially while requiring carts and rentals to be returned early, that should be made very clear before customers pay full price for an 18-hole round.
To their credit, they did offer a $20 rain check, but that doesn’t come close to covering the rental fees or the unfinished back 9 that we paid for.
Overall, the course itself is beautiful and most of the staff we encountered were friendly, but this experience left a really bad impression. I golf weekly and enjoy trying different North Shore courses, but unfortunately this is one I won’t be returning to or recommending to friends because of how the situation was handled.
Insanely slow
The pace of the play yesterday was terrible. When looking at the tee times available, there should’ve been many breaks and minimal waiting but when the course has so many walkers, and walkers who don’t play quick.. with no ranger monitoring the pace of play it was terrible and a lot of waiting
Beautiful but challenging course
Great course but for a high handicapper can be daunting.
This place probably does not rent clubs that often, as it serves a very local clientele. I think the policies you encountered are extremely common. Sunset means the staff needs to go home. Unfortunately the back 9 is a long walk from the clubhouse....not my favorite course to play evening golf.
