East at White Pines Golf Course
About
White Pines Golf Club is ideally situated for both locals and visitors with a convenient location that is just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago and only 10 minutes from O'Hare International Airport. The club has two 18-hole courses, the East and the West. The East is the shorter and more player friendly of the two at 6,371 yards from the back tees. The fairways are seemingly narrow but there is some room for recovery if you have an errant shot. There aren't as many bunkers or water as on the West Course, but there is enough to provide a fun round. In addition to 36 holes of golf, White Pines G.C. also offers the Golf Dome, one of the world's largest indoor golf facilities. It features five target greens surrounded by bunkers, 50 hitting tees on two levels, and six suspended hitting targets for practicing your accuracy.

We had a wonderful time playing Course is in very good condition and the weather was awesome!!!!
Great course. Fair price.
Great course. Fairways and greens were in good shape. Good layout with some interesting holes.
Super fast check in. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Totally comfortable!
Excellent shape and the staff was fantastic. I will play again in the near future!
The course was very slow, as no one kept track of groups at the turn. Everyone goes into grill and expects their spot on the tenth tee, 15 mins later.
Course was ok, but greens are very slow and bumpy, expect more for the price.
Improved Cart Paths, Beautiful Course for the 4's.
I shot here for the first time earlier in the Spring and thought the course was terrific. My big complaint then was the horrible condition of the cart paths. It's true they are stone and gravel but the worst part of that was the terrible pot holes on the paths. Maybe that was a result of the winter but I played last week and they evidently graded the paths and they are infinitely better!
Pinball through the trees
The East course was in decent shape, greens were okay, traps were the expected dirt/dust and you have to keep the ball on the straight and narrow on several holes because of way too tight tree lined conditions. It becomes disconcerting hearing all the other players on the course wacking balls into trees/branches/leaves and if you do go into the trees even your punch out shots have to be properly thought out because you can find yourself in the fairway with branches overhanging or no shot at all to recover to the green. I've played White Pines since the early 80's and each year it just gets tighter....and neither course is much fun if your game is off a little. Several smaller old school greens that are rock hard as well. The unpaved gravel cart paths are complete dust storms during dry weather which certainly provides additional annoyance. These are $30 courses at most and bring a chainsaw. Book on line (however even on their own website I believe they still charge a booking fee). If you don't book on line they'll charge their rack rate which is close to $60. Only reason they get that is their proximity to the city. 2.5 stars/3 stars at most. Go farther out of the city and you'll find plenty of other courses that are more fun, less crowded and a much better value.
Fun, but pave the cart paths!
I shouldn't complain, because I got a couple lucky bounces, but the cart path not being paved is annoying. There were places around some of the sand traps that were not well-maintained, but otherwise, a really nice course. I'd set the price at which I would DEFINITELY jump on selecting this course is $35.
Mediocre Course, Horrible Management
White Pines is a total joke. I golfed with two friends there last week. The driving range was closed, and the manager on duty at the time, Kevin, was extremely rude and disrespectful. He ruined our round.
The course was a little wet from rain that day. We were on the tenth hole, and one of my buddies sliced his drive. The ball landed in an open grassy area to the right of the fairway, short of a pond. We drove the golf cart in the area in search of the ball. Unfortunately, the cart happened to get stuck in the mud. There were 'Out of Bounds' sticks that were difficult to see at the time, and we would have never driven the cart there if we thought we were going to get stuck in the mud.
After getting stuck, I immediately ran to the clubhouse to alert them of what happened and to ask if we could get another cart. The staff in the clubhouse gave me a key to a new cart without hesitation. I rode the new cart back to the area that we got stuck, where my friends had been waiting for me, and didn't realize that Kevin (one of the managers) had been following us the whole way back in a separate cart. When I arrived to the scene, I was laughing at my friend who was still in the cart and stuck in the mud because it was a pretty funny looking scene. Turns out that Kevin was not amused, and did not like the fact that I was laughing. He immediately started yelling at us.
Kevin said that what we did was "idiotic", and it was as "dumb as driving the cart into the nearby pond". He said that if we wanted to continue our round, we would have to WALK THE REST OF THE WAY. He took the new cart away from us, even after I explained to him that it was a complete accident, and that I never saw the OB sticks. Kevin was a perfect example of how NOT to treat your customers. He was on a power trip, and completely ruined what was supposed to be a fun day with my buddies. We had to walk in the light rain the rest of the round.
Overall, the course was mediocre at best (every hole seems like the same 380 yard Par 4), and the service and experience was terrible. I was planning on going there next month for a 16 person golf outing with my coworkers, but after our exchange with Kevin, I will never be returning to White Pines. Thanks Kevin!
Money Pinchers
Had a foursome scheduled for a Hot Deal. Had to drop it to 3. Then found out the foursome was okay and White pines refused to honor the hot deal and made us pay full price. Really uneccessary.
Great place for the price easy to get too off 290
Always like playing white pines, pace of play is good if you dont get stuck behind a foursome. Course is fairly forgiving greens arent that fast on the east course 8th hole par 3 had a good slope on it id say their toughest par 3. Still a great course if you can snag a hot deal.
Nice course
Course was in good condition, greens were great and running true
Great Experiance
Twosome during the week, twilight hours. The course was not busy. Was able to get 15 holes within 2.5 hrs. Look forward to playing their second course next week.
The course ranger was horrible
Our experience was completely ruined by the course ranger literally following us and waiting for us to shoot even though we were a group of 4 and keeping good pace. We also had no one behind us, yet he was stuck on bothering us the whole front 9. Absolutely ridiculous.
