East at White Pines Golf Course
About
White Pines Golf Club is ideally situated for both locals and visitors with a convenient location that is just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago and only 10 minutes from O'Hare International Airport. The club has two 18-hole courses, the East and the West. The East is the shorter and more player friendly of the two at 6,371 yards from the back tees. The fairways are seemingly narrow but there is some room for recovery if you have an errant shot. There aren't as many bunkers or water as on the West Course, but there is enough to provide a fun round. In addition to 36 holes of golf, White Pines G.C. also offers the Golf Dome, one of the world's largest indoor golf facilities. It features five target greens surrounded by bunkers, 50 hitting tees on two levels, and six suspended hitting targets for practicing your accuracy.

Rough start of the year
I have played this course many times. Right now the course needs some work, its early so i am hoping that they are just waiting to make the necessary improvements.
White Pines West
Good conditions for being late in the season. Leaves were not as bad as I expected. Greens a little fuzzy but had a fun time.
cart path ?
it turned to be a nice day we got to white pines and then they told us cart path only why so I called maple meadows about 10 min. away they said just come there where get you on and a great time drive the cart right to my ball so my 10 dollar book fee was on me I guess
Good Course just tough w/ aeration
Course is a great course overall. Playing it mid summer it's much friendlier in terms of green and sand. When there is bad weather or they are preparing for winter, aeration/sand really is tough to deal with thus ruins flow of a round.
Overall great course, but should be cheaper in fall than is.
The cart path
The cart path is bad you can not drive on it poorly maintained
You could get a headache ,back lashes
over rated
narrow fairways that are unfair to the average golfer. no fun and high scores being inside the trees with the drive. no chance to hit the green in two. regular green fees are over priced for a course that you are not going to have any fun playing.
Overall conditions good!
Great for the average golfer. Fairways and greens in great condition and yet challenging. Highly recommend
Cart paths suck
The gravel cart paths are horrible. Dusty and teeth rattling!
None
Will never recommend this course to anybody ever use to be a good course . The people running it now very rude manager is very uncooperative the Ranger has no personality went off path a little bit thretened to pull key throw me off course that's a little harsh the golf course is a hole in the ground that was a mistake never ever again thank you golf now you guys are great.
White Pines West
Not a very well groomed course. Sand traps have more mud than sand. Greens are slow and inconsistent. Tee boxes and fairways are like hitting of someone's front lawn. Paid $32, so if someone is looking for cheap golf and not expecting much of a golf course this is your place.
Challenging yet fun
This was my first time playing here and I did enjoy it. Gor a great deal on Golfnow so it was well worth it. Fairways are narrow, flanked by many trees (and quite a bit of water), so you better hit it straight. We played from the tips so that increased the difficulty. Course was in good shape too. The only downside was that the pace of play was pretty slow. We were behind consecutive foursomes of old guys, and those codgers really like to take their sweet time.
Horrible Cart Paths!
The cart paths are crushed gravel with very deep ruts and following another cart means driving through a cloud of dust!
One Star - Not recommended
Rarely do I give a one star rating. White Pines really deserves it this time.
1) On a Friday morning with a fairly empty tee sheet the course allowed a 5-some of walkers to hold up the entire course.....we teed off at least a 1/2 hour after them and they were holding up groups behind them from the 3rd tee on. Completely unacceptable and I don't care if they are "members" or not.....this according to the ranger who did nothing to assist speed of play. The walking 5-some was followed by a two-some who for some reason never played through them and then the two-some and three-some directly in front of our group on the 3rd hole also became a 5-some playing the tips (and 4 of them had no business playing them spraying the ball around everywhere)! Completely ridiculous mid-morning on a Friday.
2) sand traps while they look "maintained" are basically a thin layer of dirt with hard pan underneath. Good luck when you get in a green side bunker.
3) greens - appeared to have been micro aerated recently however they were very slow in comparison to other area courses and frankly were pretty bumpy. Greens hadn't been cut in a day or two or even rolled. Repaired several ball marks (some recent and some not so recent).
4) Pin position sheet on scorecard - several pins were flat out wrong. If you're going to have pin position assignments on your scorecard - get them right.
5) overall employee attitude - poor from check-in, ranger, halfway house, cart girl....it didn't appear anyone was very "happy" at this place....never a smile or that they were even happy to see you.......perhaps the light tee sheet speaks for itself.
Both courses are worth $25 at most at this point. See my quick tip in regards rates....and based upon this very poor experience.won't go back to White Pines again anytime soon......
Great Course
The course layout was to my liking and the fairways, traps, rough and greens were well maintained. Excellent kept course .
Stay East if you can
I've played both courses at White Pines multiple times, but it had been a while since I had last been on the East course. Personally I think it is slightly more challenging than the west and the layout is better as well.
White Pines has recently lost a large number of trees (due to disease) and the East course (at least so far) seems to a faired better than the West course.
I think both courses can be slightly overpriced (especially on the weekends) but if you can find a deal, it is well worth playing.
Greens good condition but slow
Overall good value on golf now
Wouldn't pay Reg price
Fairways in good shape. Some holes extremely tight due to trees not trimmed back
Pat 3's very long but we did play from back tees
Greens in great shape but slow, not much challenge, pretty flat
