East at White Pines Golf Course
About
White Pines Golf Club is ideally situated for both locals and visitors with a convenient location that is just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago and only 10 minutes from O'Hare International Airport. The club has two 18-hole courses, the East and the West. The East is the shorter and more player friendly of the two at 6,371 yards from the back tees. The fairways are seemingly narrow but there is some room for recovery if you have an errant shot. There aren't as many bunkers or water as on the West Course, but there is enough to provide a fun round. In addition to 36 holes of golf, White Pines G.C. also offers the Golf Dome, one of the world's largest indoor golf facilities. It features five target greens surrounded by bunkers, 50 hitting tees on two levels, and six suspended hitting targets for practicing your accuracy.

White pines
Greens and fairways were rock hard, but otherwise course was kept up and fun to play. Pace was a little slow. $55 is a little pricey for the course, but worth the discounted rate we paid
Arboretum that's also a golf course
White Pines West is a pleasant golf course to play for being public. The layout gives a good mix of dog legs, bunkers, hazards, and forest. Since White Pines is paired with a local arboretum, there is a significant number of trees lining the fairways. The fairways are generous, but accuracy is key. If you often slice your shots, then this may not be the course for you unless its the late fall/early spring when the trees do not have their leaves. There are a couple of double dog leg par 5's that require accurate, long ball strikes.
The quality of the course was fairly high - low number of marks on the greens, interesting putting reads, lush fairways, low amount of divots. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a slight challenge while not breaking the bank.
Better than average
A basic golf course with a few interesting holes. Played East course but enjoyed the West course more. Sand traps need work but early in the season. Worth playing if you get a discount from full price.
Course is ok
My cart broke down after 8, had to walk the 9th. No big deal. Got a hot dog at the turn, it was the worst I've ever had. I think they picked the bun out of the garbage, it was so stale. Course is fine, the holes aren't all that different from one another, but it's a nice looking course. Not the worst course by far, but nothing to write home about.
White Pines West
The course was in pretty good condition. The sand traps were ungroomed and in poor condition . It is early in the season however and I hope the traps will improve. I would recommend this course to anyone. Channelling and fun to play
Excellent considering it is winter
Great conditions considering it is winter! Course was actually crowded, but pass was ok
Don't Spray it!!
Considering the time of year that I played the course was in very good condition. This is the first time I have played this course and I was a bit surprised by how close the out of bounds were on some holes. If you are the type of player that sprays your tee shot on occasion be careful...the nearby cars and house could make for a pretty expensive round. That being said , the course and facilities were very nice. The price was right. I will definitely play at this course again.
really good greens
good bang for you buck.the only downside was the leafs made it difficult to find your ball., but that is fall golf in chicago.
Fairway conditions
Ordinarily the course is just beautiful, but there was no way to keep up with the falling leaves. Some of the trees looked like rain coming down.
lotta leaves
great course except a lot of leaves. greens were in good shape
10/19/14 Round
Course was in decent shape with lot of leaves and frost on the ground. Did not play well
Nice course
Short but challenging muni. Excellent condition for this time of year. Course undergoing winter conditioning, and there had been lots of rain. Only $35, including cart, so this was an excellent value for the money. Will definitely return again for another round. Narrow fairways, so no room for stray shots.
Nice facility
course played well despite the rain this week. Wet in spots but only one small area on one fairway deemed "ground under repair". Will definitely be back c
great course for the money
the course was in very good shape for this time of year. and a very good value. i would recommend to my friends!
Greens were perfect, like a private club.
We played the west course which was reasonably challenging for us. As a 13 handicap, I found the course to be challenging and rewarding when I hit a good shot. When I hit errant tee shots, I had punch shots out of trees. So penal, but not unfair. Greens were terrific! Small but very true, like a private. Reminded me of LaGrange CC where I was a member for many years. Highly recommended, an excellent value. Dwight
hit it straight
While true for any course, you do need to hit the ball straight at White Pines. The fairways are fairly narrow and densely tree-lined. Greens were not holding quite as well as I'd like, but putted true.
Fast Play / Greens were Nice / Skinny Fairways
My round took under 4 hours on a Saturday afternoon which is excellent timing. The course greens are rolling very nicely.
This course will force you to hit a straight ball as the fairways are tight and greens small. Lots of overhanging trees also make approach shots difficult.
Consistent
Great staff, great price & good condition.
Will play it again
