Major Let Down
Been here multiple times and this was the worst. Players waiting for carts to be pulled up. No distinction for pin placement. 70 degrees and CPO? Even the starter was confused why. Said it was a maintenance call but no rain so why?
Decent shape for winter consitions
Course is now more open after some tree removal, some sand traps also filled in before spring renovations, biggest challenge was the copious amounts of goose droppings on many holes and tee boxes. Overall - good early season price for conditions that were less than ideal.
sand traps are dirt
The sand traps are mosly dirt and unexcepable. This has been going on for a few years. They didn't do a good job keeping the leaves clear so it was difficult to find your golfball and it slowed play. It took 3 of us over 4.5 hours to play 18. The fairways and greens were in good shape.
Nice course. Some holes are tight with water where you are likely to miss. The course was in great shape with nice tough greens. We will be back.
Solid course
Played this course during the summer and fall. Both times playing the course was kept in very good shape. Fairways are clean and greens are exceptional for the price of play. They always have online deals so be sure to check for those before booking. Overall, the staff is nice and the starters are considerate people. The course offers many different looks in terms of layout. It’s not that long of a course but does have obstacles that require you to play distance shots. It does get a little backed up at the end of the round due to 2 Par 3 holes being back to back. Outside of that, no complaints here. I’ll be back next year!
Tough
This course is hard. Get ready for a tough but fun day.
Glendale lakes
Nice staff, very easy to walk up as a single. Course was in pretty good shape. Bunkers need work but it looks like they are in progress of doing that for next season. Greens played well. Overall for the prices it is hard to beat.
Good course, no amenities
The course was in great shape! They had cart path only because of heavy rains the last few days, which is understandable, but no prior warning when booking. Just, surprise! But that happens... No concessions. There's a fridge with some drinks, candy and chips. Understandable for a cheaper public course. Could use a hot dog or something. Might be a little picky but compared to most of the public courses in the area they're definitely lacking. The guy in the pro shop and the starter are also a little ornery for having to do so little. Seems like we were being a burdenn just showing up to golf. I try to be fair so three stars. Great course, would love to play it again but probably never will because of everything it's missing. Use this for what it's worth to you :)
Not a Serious Course
There are some great Park District courses in Chicagoland--this just isn't one of them. For $67 (w cart), I expect better course maintenance. The first hole has dug up dirt/trench/pile of rubble on the right hand side that apparently according to people that play often has been there for 3-4 years.
Sand traps on almost every hole and NONE have been refilled in years! You are literally hitting in raked dirt--unless you want to break your club or break your elbow, suggest you move your ball out. No serious course would charge $67 and never refill on sand...
From the tips is only 6100 yards, so you get a lot of high handicap golfers, which is fine, just expect slow play, no divot repairs on the green and balls flying at you at all angles.
I suppose that is why we were able to find a Sunday morning tee time on short notice.
Slow Pace of play
Course is good but pace of play is a bit slow that day. Slow play up front kept us playing a bit slow and forced to pace and anticipate(wait) but what’s annoying is the guys behind us keep hitting their balls when we’re not done on the hole. Would’ve been nice to have a ranger around to report the incident as we were almost hit with their balls partly with their mis hits and impatience on the course.
Dog Track
Booked as a single. Showed up, checked in and rolled some putts. Ranger bragging about how slow play is. Nobody on tee for 15 minutes. Group of 4 shows up, tells me to go ahead, ranger says no because I’m with 3 guys that haven’t checked in yet. It’s now time to tee off, other 3 still not there, and tells me I still can’t go until 3 random guys show up. Group behind tees off. Finally off the tee, course is chewed up. Not the result of lots of play and hot weather, blatant disregard to standard course maintenance. Greens are like Velcro, bunkers are all unplayable because their dirt was “allocated to someone else.” 4 hours later, I left after 13 holes. Restaurant closed so nothing to eat available at the turn. Greens are insanely close to other tee boxes and it feels like you’re in a war zone with balls flying all over the place. Absolutely would never play this course again even if it was free. Oh, and during my wait on the first tee, the ranger made sure to tell me how much he hates golf now and how I should just delete the app from my phone because it doesn’t sync with their reservation software fast enough. Wildly unprofessional.
Glendale Lakes
Glendale Lakes is a nice course. The fairways are nice and the greens are plush. The sand traps do t have sand in them. They are Illinois dirt traps like many courses . The pace of play was alright You’ll enjoy this course
Glendale lakes 8/20/23
Friendly staff, continually watch pace of play, great shape, except for someone in front of us dragging feet around the green. Will play again.
