The classic design of Maui Nui Golf Club combines different elements including reachable holes that face each cardinal point with strong prevailing winds that reward smart play for a layout that is both fair and challenging. The layout wanders through the foothills of Haleakula, providing subtle elevation changes as well as views of the ocean and the surrounding West Maui Mountains and the volcanic atoll Molokini. The golf course has a variety of holes that will have you hitting downwind, upwind, and with both left and right crosswinds. A few lakes and ponds also come into play. Maui Nui Golf Club's layout features generous fairways and large greens. The difficulty of the course depends heavily on the speed of the prevailing winds that day. Golfers will be greatly rewarded by keeping the ball in play and good putting and chipping skills.

Love the course, not the starter.

My wife and I love playing this course. Unfortunately the starter is always rude and snarky when checking in. Never does Buff greet us with a warm welcoming reception. He acts like we are a burden, even after giving him a tip. It puts a real damper on our round. otherwise the course is a nice layout. Went to the Dunes at Maui Lani and the starter was very nice.

Fun track!

My wife and I enjoy playing here when we visit Maui. The course is challenging but fair. The greens are quick and some of them are tricky. We play in the morning. Pace of play has always been good.

Another Great day @ Maui Nui

I have played this course for years and have to say its in the best condition ever. Like most courses they were shut down for a couple of months due to the so called Pandemic. That gave the course a chance to heal, especially the greens. I would give the conditions a straight 5 but the local pigs have been uprooting the wetter areas of the course looking for grubs. Fortunately those wet areas are generally not in play, it just looks bad, but does not play bad. The only real problem is that the restaurant/bar went under due to the pandemic. Hopefully that will be solved soon.

Avoid the Starter. Not possible?

Played this course over the years so many times. So many great holes and memories. On our last trip seven or so rounds. Love the course and the gorgeous drive to it from Kahana. But the starter...OMG

Real power tripper. We had to give hime a nickname - MP. AKA Buff, I think.

Checked in for our 8:52 am tee time only to find out of the rain delay till ten. No problem. We are in Maui and this is our only concrete plan for the day.

Got back after a coffee shop run and settled into our golf cart well before ten. "STAND BY, STAND BY, STAND BY" Buff shouted at us. Stand by for what? Turns out Buff had to send out the regulars with 10;04, 10:14 etc. tee times. I approached him and ask why are we being punished. He asked the golf shop pro, sweet guy named Joe, to "SHOW THESE TWO THE BACK NINE". Really? "These two'?

We felt very much mistreated. Maybe because we booked with GOLFNOW?

Worst experience on our 5 weak trip.

We truly wish Buff a happy retirement and a happier life. Shaka

Very nice layout - with wet weather recently a few rough spots but overall very playable and fun course - friendly staff and very good pace of play - 4th round here in 10 days and always around 4 hr playing time - couple of greens a bit rough but 15 to 16 greens in good shape - will play a number of times again- good value
