Reviews
Great Course for the Value
Even though this course is in need of some maintenance it is still always a great play. Not much you can do about the lack of water other than water, bull but there is only so much you can do when it's 80-90 degrees on a daily basis and no rain. I expect that when I go back this fall or next spring that it will be in much better condition. Still a an overall 4. Other reviews that state this place is a cow pasture are an injustice to this course. It is by no means a CC that is privately funded and can be in peak conditions year round. If you enjoy a round of golf where the course will challenge you, and the greens roll true then this is your place. Played early in the morning and watched them hand water and hand roll the greens as we played. Keep up the good work Cardinal Creek.
Poor conditions
Made a drive out here because I have read great reviews for this course and after playing a round I was very disappointed. The entire round it was like hitting off of dirt. The ground was hard as can be. There were weeds all over the course and it was extremely difficult to tell the difference between the fairway and rough. The greens and bunkers were the only things in good condition. I feel that this course could be very good if they took care of the fairways and rough as well as the greens and bunkers.
Good course layout with 3 different nine options, but I would not be coming back here unless the course was in better condition.
A Fair Course at best...
Tried Cardinal for the first time. Drove almost 50 miles. There are much better courses closer to me. Got a nice deal from GolfNow, but there are still nicer courses with equally good deals that are closer to me. There are 27 holes here (three nines), so you would think there would be no waiting issues, especially on a weekday, but we managed to get behind two very slow foursomes which caused an almost 3 hour round for nine holes! Not good. Our second nine went much quicker, as we were no longer behind the slowpokes, having been placed on a different nine than they were. We would have done this ourselves anyway, just to avoid them at all cost. No rangers in sight all day! This nine took only one and a half hours, and we were courteously waved to play through by a very nice group of young women golfers (4). The nines are laid out kind of funny in spots, as well, with golfers on a different nine seemingly coming right at you on occasions, and golfers in carts crossing your fairway, as they play their hole from a different nine. You will need to mind the course map so as not to get on a different nine by mistake. Can be confusing at times. The greens were well watered and maintained, but the fairways....well, there really was NO difference from fairway to rough, as it was all just the same grass in length and texture. And there is just simply too much clover and what I call ground ivy here. My friend lost several balls because of clover camoflage, and that thick ivy-like growth just grabs clubs and causes poor shots. It is not a terrible track, but there are many that are better for the same amount of money. The bar and Pro shop were quite nice, but that only allows for one star, so I give Cardinal Creek two stars. I will probably not come back.
just add water
Fairways dried out and hard as a brick. Nice place all in all otherwise.
Nice layout...
Played the Center / North courses and enjoyed the play. We need more rain... course drying out but in good shape
Cardinal Creek
Great value for the money! Greens were in great shape! Fairways, not so much! Looks like they don't fertilize the fairways or apply weed control! Rough was also very high. Made it difficult to find your ball.
Cardinal Creek
Course is under new ownership and they are making great headway to bring it back. In good shape and getting better.
Back to Excellence
I have travelling senior ladies group and we had not been to Cardinal Creek for a few years., and was so pleased that after a year or two of hardship the new owners have worked extremely hard and that the course is once again back in great shape! The staff is welcoming and eager to please!
could be a nice course
I played this course a couple years ago before it shut down. This was the first time playing it since it reopened. The greens were in good condition given recent aeration. The fairways need some work. More than once I found myself hitting out of a patch of dandelions in the fairway. $30 on a Saturday afternoon isn't awful but there are better deals for nicer courses out there. The overall layout of the course is nice and better conditions would have made the round more enjoyable. There were not many people there so pace of play was very good. Staff was very nice and helpful and is the thing that would bring me back.
Improving
I had not played the course in many years. As I understand it, the course went bankrupt and was purchased by new owners. They seem to be doing a nice job to improve course conditions. When the round was over the new owner invited me to come back for a hot dog and a beer. Very friendly environment. I will return and play again. I actually played all 3 nines in 4 hours.
Still great and getting better
Played the course in Mid November and the conditions were ideal. Cant wait to play again next year.
So glad Cardinal Creek is back!
Greens were absolutely superb and challenging. Fairways and rough were ideal cut and transitioned well. This place will be one of my regular courses to play from now on.
Enjoyable rounds
I golfed here twice this week. The 1st two times ever. I found the course in good condition throughout. I especially liked that there was actual sand in the traps, since many courses now do not. The greens were aerated but did not affect putting. The greens though were somewhat fast so putt lightly if they are downhill. It was an enjoyable two rounds. They have three 9-hole courses which is another nice feature.
CARDINAL CREEK
THE COARSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE, WELL MOWED AND CARED FOR. THIS COARSE WAS CLOSED FOR A WHILE IN THE SPRING, BUT IS OPEN AND IN GOOD SHAPE NOW. HOPE EVERYONE WILL HELP THE NEW OWNERS BY PLAYING A ROUND OF GOLF.
Classic Course That Is a Pleasure to Play
Cardinal Creek remains a classic course to play in the extreme South Suburbs of Chicagoland and is a pleasure to play. The new ownership is dedicated, not only to provide a quality golf course, but to be consumer-friendly to their customers. One can see from the outset that much effort has been placed into getting the links into good playing shape, but it is also very evident that this new ownership wants the golfing experience to be excellent from the moment they meet each client coming to the course. The impression that was left by the ownership was truly remarkable; I could not help but be impressed by customer service. I have always enjoyed playing Cardinal Creek, but never more than now that the course is under new management. I am thankful that the course opened again; if these initial days of under this regime are of any indication, this course will be a successful enterprise for years to come, which can only be of benefit to every golfer that comes to play this Beecher course.
glad to see it reopened
course was in excellent shape, greens were very fast but fair. overjoyed to see the course back open
Love this course
Best condition it's been in since I can remember. New ownership is doing a fantastic job and truly care about guest experience. Greens are smooth and true. Fairways clean and tight. The three different nines give a cool variety of unique holes. the staff is very friendly as well. I would recommend any friend to come out here and check it out.
Cardinal Creek
Course was not in great condition greens were soft from rain fairways were not in great condition. I was in town from Georgia and came back to play course I played before. Under new ownership I will check back later and see if course comes back. Also a single jumped in front of my group and picked up my tee shot. No rangers or starters
Great Experience
I had probably the best experience I have had golfing in a long time, if not ever. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The course was shut down all year up until 1 week ago and it looks like the crew there and the new owners really put a lot of time and effort into bringing back its full potential. Very excited to see what happens in the years to come! Would recommend this course to anyone that wants play!
