About
Blackberry Oaks in Bristol is a public golf course that has been recognized as one of the Chicagoland area's best courses. The course design utilizes the natural beauty and hazards of the landscape including the native wetlands, grassy prairies, and towering stands of mature oaks. Blackberry Creek also meanders through the course. In addition to the natural hazards, a heavy smattering of strategically placed bunkers was also incorporated into the design. Although it can seem intimidating, the golf course isn't overly formidable if you can manage to stay out of the sand and water. The third and 12th holes are two par 4s that are memorable for their water hazards. The third has a lake along either side and the 12th has a green that is almost entirely surrounded by water.

great course and price
Wonderful course and price, carts have GPS and blue tooth speakers built in the cart!
Very nice staff. Course in good shape for time of year. Bunkers hard but expected. People ahead of us walking were slow. Water on some holes not too challenging though.
Always a good value
Course is in very good shape. A challenging layout with good balance of more difficult and less difficult holes. Greens aerated two weeks ago but are progressing nicely.
Fall Golf
Always a fun and challenging course to play. Greens were recently aerated but putting conditions were good. The only negative about the course was some of the traps were a bit hard with some a little rocky. The staff are always friendly and helpful and their golf carts with GPS and music available are great. Love playing Blackberry.
Best deal for a beautiful course with full amenities.
We picked this course due to reviews from this site and had a fantastic time. The creek meanders throughout the course and the holes are laid are perfectly so that you can take the conventional route or try for a challenging shot. The carts have GPS screens, so your distance is given to you on every shot. The greens are fair and not crazy fast and challenging. There are plenty of trees and enough water to make you hit true or you will be in trouble.
Extremely slow start
I had a 9:00 tee time. When I arrived to the first hole, there were already 12 people waiting. While waiting, about 16 more people showed up. No was was out ahead playing so not sure what happened. For whatever reason, the first group started around 9:20am. I didn’t get going till after 10:15. I’ve never had a round pushed back this for with no explanation. Other than that...the rest of the round was very enjoyable. I’d go back and recommend this course to others, as I’ve been here before and this has never happened.
Nice, but
Nice course with several interesting holes and mostly pretty. Greens were in great shape. The negative was that the ground was very hard throughout. They need to do more aerating on the fairways and rough. Otherwise, very nice.
Solid Pick
I’ve played this course for many years. Its always been a solid value. Not a lot of drama in the layout, as the holes are pretty straightforward. All in all a good value and the course is always in great condition.
Tough course
It is a tough course. Par 3's are difficult, mostly over some type of water. It's a pretty course and had a good time regardless of my score.
Always fun to play
Course in good shape. Greens rolling nice. You have to be careful with downhill putts. Fairways in very good shape and cut low. Lots of tight lies.
Fantastic Course, Beautiful and, Challenging
We could not have asked for a better round of golf. The course is moderate to difficult and you may loose your ball if you're not paying attention. Plenty of well placed trees and an equal amount of water and sand make shot selection a lot of fun. The sand was well groomed and actually playable, a bonus as several of my shots landed in the bunkers. Super star golf at a great price. Seriously looking at a membership for next year.
Sporty course
My 3 buddies and I enjoyed our first round at this interesting course. Although being a bit of a drive out to the country, the relaxed atmosphere was a welcome change to suburban courses. The course was in nice shape for this late in the season (especially the greens) but there were some bare areas in the fairways and around the greens. Overall we will play again ad recommend you do the same.
Course in very poor condition.
We arrived about 1/2 hour early for our t-time. We were told we had to wait until our exact t-time even though as we waited we saw no one starting to play... no explanation offered. T-boxes were in horrible shape -- hard to find any grass. Some fairways were the same. We have played this course before and have never remembered it in such terrible shape. We used to recommend this course, but do not plan to return and will not recommend moving forward.
Awesome golf for a great price.
Love the layout. Greens were true and very fair. Definitely will play again and I drove 44 miles.
