Hidden Gem
I’ve always been curious about this course. When I’ve driven past it, it’s looked narrow with bunkers and water everywhere. I played it in good weather conditions and found neither of those things to be true.
The course runs through residential areas and the homes are plenty set back so you probably won’t have any issues. You come out of the tunnel after the quiet front nine right next to Half Day and it’s really loud and totally changes the vibe. That’s quickly changed back as you head back into a residential setting on 11.
Fairways are pretty wide and most of the bunkers are not very big. They are well maintained, so if you hit one, you can get out.
There is indeed water around every hole and many spots you have to carry, but I didn’t find water taking over the hole and all were easily navigable.
Course is very well maintained and a lot of fairways are lower than the sides so it is forgiving.
The price was $60 for the weekday round. I didn’t have an issue with it for what was delivered. I’ll probably do annual visits here. It was fun.
Great course
The Arboretum continues to deliver. Good course, challenging. Conditions are kept up, nothing burned out or excessively unwatered. A little slow at 4 hours, 45 minutes, but not excessive.
Great Challenge
Very challenging, course layout, lots of water and danger all over the place. Some solid elevation change, especially compared to other courses in northeastern Illinois. Conditions are commonly here, and pin placements are also challenging. Would highly recommend this course if you’re looking for a challenge and interesting course design.
Target golf.
A track that I come back to play often. Off course amenities are a thing here - especially for those that Buffalo Grove home. Think simulators and a nice bar.
Pros: Conditions are good here. All the time. Pace of play is good. All the time. Fair and challenging.
Cons: No driving range (but they do ave a warm-up area with a net).
*Aim small miss small. The greens will hold, but yardage needs to very good.
The team here is super friendly and more often than not, assist in anyway they can. I will definitely return.
Plan on 5 hours
Pace of play is the killer. I love the course, the layout...But pace of play is horrible. Second time in a row I suffered through 5 hour round. Ed in the proshop is awesome. No rangers. Had twosome ahead of me chipping and putting to wait for groups ahead of the. Rather than waiting at tee box. Meanwhile I have groups hitting onto us from other holes and behind us. Twosome said it's not their problem. I was single playing with a family. I don't understand why pace of play is so bad. Maybe more time between groups? I would play here anytime if pace were better. Challenging course, good mix of holes.
Above my skill level but no course map?
I’m very much aware that this course is more challenging than what my current skill level can handle it it’s still pretty tough to take on a challenge when I don’t know what each hole is going to bring. Hidden streams 3 quarters down the fairway, not sure if it’s a dog leg or not at the tee box to make a few. Also got yelled at for pace of play, which I get, my group is bad at golf but don’t yell at us like you’re our high school coach all for us to wait at the next hole for the group in front of us to finish. Pretty course though I’m just bad at this game
Good Pace of Play
Very good course, nice hole layout. We had a nice round and the pace of play was decent, about 4 hours. Water from all the rain was not an issue other than the sand traps, which the course managers were draining with a portable pump. Nice experience, very consistent golf over the years I’ve played.
5 hours to golf
Overall course is in good condition but five hour round to Golf is to long. Even though course rule is two minutes to look for balls, everybody was taken a lot more time.
