Far Oaks Golf Club
About
Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville has a unique layout with a front nine that is designed in a Scottish-links style and a back nine that plays through rolling woodlands. The links holes are framed with native prairie grasses and wildflowers while mature oak trees line the fairways on the back nine. There are plenty of elevation changes throughout the golf course, making it hard to find a flat lie. Mounding and strategically placed bunkers lurk treacherously along the greensides and there are also several holes with water. Far Oaks Golf Club is a challenging course that demands accuracy, which is most apparent on the 10th hole. Although it's not the longest par 4 on the course, it is still challenging thanks to a slew of bunkers that border both sides of the green.

A great course for the monwy
This is in great shape. They just got new electric carts! Really nice!
First time at Far Oaks
I've played courses in Palm Desert and La Quinta and this course was very compatible with some of the courses there. Challenging in some places, forgiving in others. Overall, a very well maintained place to test your ball striking ability.
Overall - The Course Is In Good Shape
Overall, I thought the condition of the course was in good shape. We paid $48 for a weekday senior rate which is a great value for this upscale course. I would highly recommend this course.
Some greens are showing a little stress. A greenskeeper was dropping sand on any areas of the greens that were struggling. The greens had a much more of sandy base than in March, which reduced to number of ball mark smudges on the green.
Many of the par 3 tee boxes are getting beat up. A few fairways are still having some drainage issues.
The biggest thing this course needs to change is their tee markers. They all look alike and makes it extremely frustrating figuring out which tee is what color. Also, bushes/trees are starting to grow in front of hole 6 & 12. If not maintained, it will ruin the beauty of these two holes.
Good course in great condition. Another 5+ hour round
Best greens I’ve putted on in a long time. Tee boxes and fairways were great. Rough was super thick and penalizing. More of a technical course if you like that. Only hit driver 3 or 4 times. Lot of risk reward holes if you want to try. Zero chance I’d ever play there if it was cart path only tho. That setup makes for some slower play. We watched the group in front of us tee off on every hole. Pretty ridiculous back up on 16, a par 3, for a completely unknown reason. There was a group on the green, and 3 groups waiting on the tee box. Ot was a 35 minute wait. Kinda ruined a nice afternoon.
Far Oaks 5/9
Practice tee was closed so could not hit balls. Cart path only but sign on #1 tee stated it was 90 degree. Course was in decent shape but some of the greens were beaten up and a few of the tee boxes could use some work. Will play here again but for early May this rate for what was received seemed high. Also no marshall on course and the play was slow.
Great day to play golf
The weather was nice, the course was in very good shape and the company great.
Nice Course But Many Greens Beat Up & Poor Tee Markers
Far Oaks one of my favorites in the St. Louis metro. Weekday senior rate of $42 is wonderful for this course. They have cut down some large trees to the left of the 12 green, I would assume for better air flow.
I don't like to be too critical this early in the season, but numerous greens have some rough patches. Most of the greens are filled with ball mark damage. The front of the 7th green has some major issues. The 11th green has issues all over the green. I had to move my ball to putt around the damage. I think a few other greens have some issues too but I don't recall which holes but these 2 stood out as the worse.
The yellow tees on hole 12, didn't have much grass.
Finally, I have mentioned this numerous times. They need to change their tee markers. They all look white except for a thin colored line on the border. We spend the entire round trying to figure out where our tees are.
Excellent and challenging course
The greens are fast and true. Lots of hazards. Fair but challenging. Bring your A game
One year to the next
Nice coarse and great layout. On one to tell you how the cart gps system works or nothing on the cart to tell you.
Course Letdown
Course has gone down including fairways and greens. Really disappointing as to what happened (fungus on green?). Hopefully they work on it soon to what it used to be.
Not up to par!
One of my favorites but not in good shape yesterday. Greens need work. Tee boxes dried out. Rough is messed up.
