Overbooked, fairways need haircut
Staff openly admitting they overbooked. 5+ hour round. People behind is left on tee box 2 after seeing 4 groups on the par 5. They just added people in because they didn’t block out what was booked. Fairways way too long…mow please.! Sand traps haven’t had work in a long time.
Weird day
Started as a single but eventually partnered up because of slow play by a twosome two groups ahead. Eventually it became a foursome when other people caught up. This all happened in the first six holes it was so bad and no one was around to police it. Thankfully, they left after nine and we cruised through until 17 when the cart ran out of gas. We spent more time trying to get up the hill than playing. We called and someone came out right away but still….how does a cart go unfilled before the day starts. Overall, it was a beautiful day for golf, just a few hiccups that could have been avoided by the course management.
Pros and cons
The Pros: We appreciated the course conditions, and the fact they are trying to control the Canadian geese with statues of coyotes. It seems to be helping.
Cons: the bathroom between hole #2 & #7 for women is disgusting! There is a large hole cut out of the wall behind the toilet and through there you are able to see into the men’s restroom. Totally uncalled for!! A simple board to cover this would remedy it until this can be fixed.
Nice older course
Turnberry has a real nice layout. Greens rolled nicely . it is an older course, so there is some wear and tear on cart paths. However , we played in four hours. Real nice doglegs and challenging elevation changes on par 3’s and 5’s. Good value for the money
The Beautiful Turnberry
I love this golf course. Beautiful layout, well maintained fairways & greens. Staff is friendly & prices are reasonable.
Water shortage
More than half of ball washers were dry. There was no beverage cart. No water to drink on coarse.
Awful Sandtraps
The only thing I will remember is how bad the sand traps were. Thankfully I didn't break my sand wedge on any of the large rocks in the trap.
Great Course, not so much the carts
The course is really nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the carts are very out of date and they could use some new ones. I realize it was a busy golf day and a holiday, but the ranger was running around trying to merge people on carts because they ran out. That was strange to me.
Not worth the money
Played 18 for $75 not worth it. You would think the grass condition would be good for $75 but u would be wrong, and to top it off they didn’t have any hot dogs ready at the turn. Overall mid to low tier course save your money play somewhere else.
VERY AVERAGE
not sure if i should have expected much better. t-boxes and fairways were in decent shape. greens were very slow and bumpy. if by mid june greens are in same condition then you should ask for a refund
Only fare this time
Been here several times and usually very satisfied but not this time. Had to play through sprinklers multiple times. Pace of play was very slow due to a group of 6 ahead of us, when we voiced our concerns, let’s just say that didn’t go well. All the ball washers were dry. One positive…The drink cart girl was very pleasant. Would have liked to voice our frustrations….. but know one was around upon completion. May give it another go but several other courses in the area to choose from.
Could be so cool…
You can tell this place used to be private. But it’s a shell of what it could be. Felt like zombie golf with an awesome course layout but awful greens and barely existent and non-helpful staff (outside food and beverage. They were awesome). At the first tee, asked the starter if there was cards on the first box. He just shrugged and said, “I dunno. Maybe inside.”
Greens were in rough shape. They didn’t hold balls but were also very slow. Hitting the greens there was like hitting onto a trampoline.
Not worth what they’re charging. But if you get a deal to play for $35 or less it’s fine. Just sad knowing the potential and what it probably used to be.
