Course was worth the $$$.
The Course is in good shape for August. I play with my girl every week, they don't give the Women much of a break on the Red tees from the Whites. The Beverage girl was around in a timely fashion all day. Check-in was less than 2 minutes and the starter was very friendly. Our foursome was another couple and we went out in 2 hours 2 minutes. We did wait for the foursome of guys in front of us about 2-3 minutes on every shot. Came in at 2 hours 12 minutes. That's a good time for a Sunday. Didn't see any Ranger tho'.
Nice Course
Friendly staff, accommodating. Very nice course for the value.
Mill Creek
The greens are a little beat up, especially #10. Rate of play was slow, but we were behind a foursome that was slow and unfamiliar with the course.
Will come back again
Great course for the price. It is in great shape. Looking forward to playing it again.
NOT SATISFIED
Speaking to Tom was soooooo unfortunate. I booked on GN, a 2some (friends) wanted to play but the tee-time I had booked for me and my wife had been filled. I asked if my original tee time (12:26pm) could be moved to accommodate my friends desire to play with us). Tom gave me a bogus next tee time of 2:30pm even though online they had 1:30pm available. Tom conceded that the online tee time was available. HOWEVER, he wouldn't move me and my wife to 1:38pm to play with our friends. He said "it was complicated " and we'd have to cancel and rebook. Hey Tom, it's NOT complicated. Please, try compassion one and awhile. Its unfortunate Tom. I hope Sam understands, the manager understands my frustration.
Nice course for the money
Beautiful weather. Course is in good shape. Friendly staff. Course was busy, but pace of play was reasonable. A relatively longer course and not for beginners. Beverage cart was frequently passing, and course has a restaurant/pub. Recommended.
Nice to play
Well kept fairways and greens
Only played due to the cheap price. Would not go back.
This was a very average course with just okay conditions. The rough was way too long (we were searching for balls the entire round). Some holes didn't even make sense/seemed forced or squeezed in, and the fairways were not that great (clean, but the quality of the grass was poor). The pace of play was awful. There was a 3-some holding up 3 groups at one hole. At one point we had 6 carts lined up to tee off on the 15th hole.
I only played due to a hot deal we found of GolfNow. Other than that, I would not play again. I would rather pay an extra $10-$20 for a course with holes that make sense and where the rough was cut properly.
Nice layout
First time I have played the course and did enjoy it. It is a nice layout with a good mix of challenging holes, and holes you can score well on. A few rough spots on some of the greens, but not too bad. They did not mow in the AM, so it was difficult to putt early as they were extremely wet from dew.
Well manicured
Friendly staff, fun layout, well maintained course.
Would definitely play again.
What a deal
$28 twighlight rate after 3? I don't think I've EVER had a better deal for a course like this. Staff was ultra friendly. We saw the 1 and only cart girl 4-5x. She was hustling. With the recent rain, the bent grass rough was long. Tough to hit from. The sand wasn't great either. Some of the tee boxes on the par 3s were a little beat up. Greens were great- a little slow and very true. Great layout. Some tough holes. Some very very fair holes. I'd come back in a heartbeat.
Kind of out there, but worth the drive
Hughes is a great course. The grounds crew do a great job of maintaining it and it has some fun and tricky holes along the way. There are some elevation changes on a few holes that add to the challenge. There are a few fairways that require a straight drive (little forgiveness) while others are very open. The price is great and I've never had a problem with the pace here. Played 18 in just about 4 hours on a Sunday late morning. Staff are always friendly as well. Will definitely be back.
Very well maintained
With a mild summer here in the suburbs of Chicago, they have really done a great job in keeping the course in pristine shape. I look forward to future rounds here this summer.
Sporty course and a hidden gem
I haven't played the course in several years, but was enticed by an unbelievable Hot Deal. The only drawback is that there is no driving range, but our foursome stopped at Mill Creek's range which is on the way. This is a very interesting layout with elevation changes, lots or prairie grass and several water holes. It is very scenic (only a couple of holes with homes that do not come into play). The fairways are blue grass (instead of bent which is typical), but the course was in great shape and the greens were true. We finished in under 4 1/2 hours even after letting a twosome play through. We played the white tees at 6,208 yards, but even at that relatively short distance there are some very long par 4's and it was challenging. We had a great time and the 2 guys who hadn't played it before were both pleasantly surprised at the quality of the course for such a small green fee (including cart). This course is very walkable, since it's not spread out, but there are a couple of steep hills to climb on 9 and 18.
