Canal Shores Golf Course

There wasn’t a green on the second hole… several people cut ahead of me. Didn’t even finish 18 I was so upset. One of the worst golf experiences I have had in the city of Chicago.

Course is closing for renovations this year. Get a round in now. Its in great shape. Lots of trees already removed to open things up. Greens are in good shape. Great value.

Last time I played this course about two years ago, it was in terrible shape. The 13th green was green in name only, the fairways looked more like the grass at your local forest preserve...you get the idea. The course really was in bad shape. I have to say the new management has really started to turn this place around. The greens are in great shape, the fairways are starting to come along nicely, and the course is really looking like a golf course. There is still work that needs to be done obviously, some of the tee boxes still need a lot of work and some of the holes are in worse shape than others but if management can stay committed to the long term investment this course needs, I think the future looks pretty promising. Be warned though that, at the time of writing, this course plays MUCH shorter than advertised due to the aforementioned tee box renovations plus some other ongoing work on the course. For example, when I played, the 2nd green was completely closed and the pin was in the fairway.

A classic course which is perfect for classic blades and persimmons. Great staff in the club house and the grounds crew area always friendly.

Great city course, however, I checked in online but a staff person approached me on the first hole and said I needed to check in at the clubhouse, too. She was condescending when I told her the feature of the app was to check in and go.

Canal Shores is such a great change of pace course. Some 200 yard plus par 3’s and a couple short par 4’s and some very tight holes will provide a great challenge to any level. Greens are EXCELLENT,!

This course begins with a 190 par three with a fairly challenging first green if pin placed in the hard spots, There are a couple of par three over 200 yards but there are also some very short par 4's - The key on this course is keeping your ball in bounds. Even better handicappers will have trouble keeping in play for all 18, Greens are in great shape and Brad - (superintendent) is amazing. Course was in rough shape last year before he started restoring this to a gem. You need to try this and dont be in a hurry. Enjoy the neighborhood, the walk and Bahai Temple. Truly a great experience.

The new course management group has done an excellent job with improvements to the course.

This is the best I have seen the greens at Canal Shores, and the greens are actually now the best part of the course. They have done a lot of work to the greens to make sure they are playable. Cannot say the same for the fairways and tee boxes unfortunately. Most of the tee boxes are in poor shape, and often times you won't find yourself with a tight lie even if you end up in the middle of the fairway. Overall the course is in much better shape than last year, and there is still a lot of room for improvement. I hope they continue to work on this course because it has so much potential and is a pleasure to walk this course. What makes this course with playing is that they charge a reasonable amount to play. I paid $27.00 to walk on a weekday. Considering the conditions, I would not pay much more than that.

No tee boxes, course needs some serious maintenance. Carts are pretty expensive.

Executive course. Well maintained, easy to walk. And pleasantly uncrowded. Will play again.

Short course with some challenging holes and some holes that are confidence builders! We have fun playing this course!

Had a nice round. Conditions of the course continue to improve however there is still needed improvement to the conditions of the course.
