Canal Shores Is Looking Good
The greens are playing very well this season and the fairways are well maintained. I played with a gentleman named B. form Rogers Park and he shot his best round of the year that day and also had good things to say about Canal Shores.
Great Golf course with beautiful scenic views
Loved playing Canal Shores. As first time vistors, we were amazed at the cozy setting, with the course nestled in neighbors and a surprise view of the Bahai Temple. For average players like we are, it was the perfect course to practice some long shots and a lot of shorter shots. It wasn't crowded and we never had to wait on a hole. There is a lot of walking but on a nice summer day, it was perfect. I would recommend this gem of a course to all golfers.
I think you have done a very good job with the greens. they are very good!
Neighborhood Gem
Simple par3-par4 course that is a little rough in places but a great place for the beginner to learn/practice and intermediate golfer to sharpen his skills for the next level
The course is really in good condition, a far cry for past years. The greens were lush and pretty quick and the fairways were well maintained. The tee boxes are still a work in progress.
I played 12 holes in 2 hours, which is exactly what I wanted in a compressed time window.
I''ve been playing Canal Shores since 2014 (first time I played it I got a hole-in-one on 13, so I adopted it as "my course). The condition has improved significantly
in the last year, especially the greens, but the tees still need attention. Also it would be nice to have more ballwashers. Otherwise, no complaints.
Thank You !
Staff was really great and very professional. Course is in the best shape I have seen it. Had a lot of fun !
Fun Course with great scenery
City course set n a neighbor with views of the Baha’i Temple and lovely homes. We had a fun round of golf!
A good course but improvements are needed
It’s a fine course and will be even better when the road construction bi-secting the course is finally done. The construction progress seems very slow. The road was under construction when I played the course last year. — The parts of the parking lot that require a parking fee are very poorly marked. — The large canteens on the course, which supply drinking water, had been removed. That was so disappointing and irritating. — There are no ball washers. They would be of use. — The young men driving maintenance carts are friendly but they could do a better job of getting rid of the bottles and cans that are left on the Tee signs and Tee areas.. — There was one instance where a course ranger would have helped: an atrociously slow threesome should have been nudged along faster, or been told to let people play through.
Great Community Course but Major Issues
I love having this course in my community and it is good value. I have also seen a solid effort to improve course conditions. However, there are major issues with people walking on the course without a tee time, singles being allowed to start before their time and crowd my group, and the food at hole 9 is almost never open.
Do not play weekdays in the summer. I ran into very young kids just cutting around the course. There were several teens who appeared to be hitting balls without paying. Perhaps kids that live along the course. One actually hit up onto the green while I putted. Also ran into several non golfers casually walking down the middle of the fairways on several holes, as if they weren't on a golf course. I cut my round short by 8 holes because if this. I will be back but in the evening once the kids go back to school.
