Conditions
Unfortunately the course has seen better days. The greens are in terrible shape & wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of them fail completely unless they oversees & water.
"A Beloved Local Course" - NOT
We played at 10am on a Sunday morning. When we arrived at the course, there were no carts left for us so we had to walk, despite having paid for one in advance. The layout itself is quite interesting as its only par 3's and 4's, snaking up and down the creek that runs through it. Very few challenging holes if you are good with your irons as you only pull your driver out once or twice. There wasn't much difference between fairway and rough, and the greens were in HORRENDOUS conditions for the start of the summer season. If the course were to up their maintenance, this wouldn't be that bad of a neighborhood track, but until then, I would consider it more of a cow pasture with a few holes than a golf course.

Very Bad Greens
The only thing reason you should play here is for the uniqueness (some might call it charm). It's kind of cute that it's integrated into Evanston and winds back and forth across the North Shore Channel and you see the Purple Line and the Metra. But you will also get crazy stuff like dog walkers, pedestrians crossing the fairway without looking, and hot coals piles next to the fairway. Also there is a lot of walking between holes.
The worst part of the experience was the greens. My friend described them as "elephant skin". They are very scared up. There will have to be a concerted effort ASAP or else the place will fall into total disrepair.
I truly wish it was good. They have a nice patio to have drinks on after the round and also a stand at the green of 4, tee box of 9 to get drinks and snacks.
They call themselves "The Gem in Your Backyard". It would be nice if they treated it the same way.

Okay for the price
If you can get in to play this course with a hot deal, it could be worth it. I've played here three times so I know what to expect. The greens are in miserable shape, people walk their dogs around the fairways, and some of the tee boxes are hard to find, but it is still a fun little course. If you miss the fairway, you're probably losing a ball, so hit them straight.

Barely a golf course
This is basically a playground for the neighborhood. Dog walkers, bikers, kids playing, etc. tees, fairways and greens were all trash. 9 straight out between the road and river then 9 straight back. Good luck if you miss the fairway.

Some of the greens are dry ,bumpy mud - almost unplayable Fixing the greens would turn the course into a four. Star
