Golf Advisor: Top Military Courses in the U.S. (2021 #10)
Reviews
Great Value
The top dressing on the Greens was the only downside. Course is I nice play with pretty holes.
Great Day
Course was a treat to play, despite wet weather/
Greens were very good.....great value
Course in bad shape
The course conditions are pretty bad. Many greens have patches all over and unplayable! Fairways are in bad shape as well. The only positive is the layout of the course is unique and could be fun if it is better maintained. Won’t come back again if they don’t do anything to improve.
Great value and fun layout. Some of the greens being worked on but overall an excellent value and layout.
the weather was perfect the day I played and the course was in great condition. I read a lot of negative reviews of the course but it was well manicured and the fairways was excellent. the greens rolled true. I was hesitant to try this course but I was surprised at how well the layout was and the tee boxes did not look like a grenade had gone off of it. I would play this course again.
greens in trouble
Greens on road to ruin they need to work on them and had issues over winter. why not doing anything this far into season is a sad reflection on poor management and maintenance practices. I know run by military and that says it all.
Terrible course conditions
I play Willow Glen several times a year, but this was my first time playing it this year. I couldn't believe how burnt out the greens were. The course is usually in pretty good shape, but it is in the worst condition then any of the other courses that I play. Won't be back until the course is fixed!! We have a lot a rain here this year and I really don't understand!!!
Beautiful Golf course. Not too difficult, but not too easy either. I was the first one off at around 7am in the morning and I walked because they had no carts allowed on the course due to the wet conditions the previous days. The course was quite wet in many areas, however, I could see that the grounds crew was doing their very best to get the course into peak condition. I would recommend this course to anyone. I will come back and play again even though it is 40 minutes to drive here from my home.
In shock
The title really sums it up. We had a group after work of 6 guys that played. So we spend around 30 a piece for 9 holes. They had a small sign in the clubhouse that said there was some weather damage on the course.
What it should have said is that half of most greens are severely damaged and almost unputtable while the other have have large 4x2 foot random sections missing. Seriously you CAN NOT putt on greens that have no greens. It looked like a course being built not charging full price. I kept score for one hole spend the round practicing approach shots.
If you have most of your greens missing then shut the course down and stop taking people’s money
Worst course ever
Hello,
I would like to Thank You for commenting about the unfortunate condition of our Greens. They are not indicative of the 50+ year history. Beginning June 3, we have taken some very aggressive sodding and seeding steps to get our greens back to where they normally are,. We have also reduced our rates to reflect this repair. We are confident we will see our normally healthy greens get back to shape this year. My Name is Adam, My direct line is located in my profile and would love to talk to you about this in person. Thank you again for your honest feedback, it does not go unnoticed and is taken to heart!
Thank you for your review of our golf course Robert. We are working hard to remedy the situation. It is everyone goal here to return the course to its glory and we believe we are on the right path. I will check back in with you soon, and share you some updates so you can return. Please feel free to call me at the course. My name is Adam Anderson PGA
