Wolf Hollow Golf Club
About
Wolf Hollow Golf Club originally opened in 1928 as Lena Golf Club. The course tumbles across northwest Illinois' gently rolling hills, incorporating quite a few elevation changes into the layout. The golf course has a true risk-reward design that will thoroughly test your shot-making abilities. With proper course management and a bit of luck, there are several birdie opportunities to be had. Measuring in at just over 6,400 yards from the back tees, the course manages to give you a few lengthy holes but it will also put your short-game skills to the test. The 16th is one of Wolf Hollow Golf Club's most intimidating holes because this par 4 has trouble everywhere. A creek and tall grasses guard the left of the fairway and the small green requires a nearly perfect approach shot.

Would Not Play Here Again
Fairways, greens were in good condition, bunkers were brutal and seemingly totally ignored by grounds keepers. Not an enjoyable course mainly because there were too many blind shots, especially into the green. I don't like having to get up to a ridgeline to see what I'm aiming at and if the green is cleared. It was over priced as well for being in the countryside. I would not return, there are other more enjoyable courses in the area. A good course for area locals, but not for visitors.
Great condition
Above average public course with nice variety of tees for different skill levels. The only negative were the number of geese on the course and the amount of droppings on the course. Very nice staff bs the condition of the course was great.
Fantastic course
We always enjoy Wolf Hollow. So well taken care of, and some of the nicest people around. That friendly small town atmosphere, just can't beat it.
very scenic
very nice course with elevation changes which can make club choice tricky. Range ok but shots travel uphill. clubhouse average. overall worth a short drive
Welcome to the country
What a fantastic and uniquely designed course. Definitely one that you must play over and over to appreciate its' many features. Make the drive, it's worth it.
great outing with son and grandson
Course was in great condition for this early in season. Weather was even better and pace of play kept moving as a 4 hour play shows
Beautiful rural setting
Beautiful rural setting with rolling fairways and excellent greens.
Great course
Great course for the money with some challenging holes. Rolling terrain with some nice views.
wide variety of challenging holes in great shape
We enjoyed the helpful, friendly staff, the wonderful layout of the course, and the amount of time to comfortably play the course. A play it again course on my list of good times.
Great value !!
Great layout, elevation changes, great condition; a must play for Chicagoans in route to, or coming home from, Galena. A tip -
even tho it's a par 3, lay up short and right on #8.
Outstanding views and great golf course
Amazing views and very challenging golf course. This is the course you should play on your way to Eagle Ridge or on the way back! Conditions are great and the course is challenging! The staff is great and the evaluation changes and the views are out of sight! #16 from the back tees is a keeper!!
The Course is immaculate!!
My only complaint would be that there was no starter and no ranger so speed of play suffered. However I was told by the group in front of us, who were regulars, that it was busier then usual for a Friday...
