Old Oak Country Club

About
Old Oak Country Club is situated only 20 minutes from Chicago, but the beautifully wooded terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickory trees, makes it feel as though it's much further away. Originally opened in 1926, the golf course is one of the area's oldest and even one of the oldest in the state. It has undergone many renovations over the years but it still retains its classic character. The layout offers plenty of variety with drivable par 4s and lengthy par 5s. The rolling topography provides many of the golf course's challenges, from the rolling fairways and undulating greens to the elevated tees and blind shots. Mature trees tower over the fairways, adding another tricky element to the golf course. Old Oak Country Club is challenging but fair and still quite playable, which is why it has long been a local favorite.

Love this old hidden gem, challenging enough for all types of golfers, makes you play various types of shots, great condition throughout the day, very nice greens and good pace of play! Definitely a course to play often and it will always be fun 👌
Awesome course
Awesome course, pace of play good (4hr) round. Greens insanely fast but overall nice course.
south suburbs best.
Love playing here. Usually not this slow but the blues and whites tees were the same on alot of the holes too long for some players
Hard to say anything negative
Pretty sure the greens keeper here has a PhD in agriculture or biology or something. The conditions here are almost always incredible regardless of the weather. Slightly bias since it's a "home" course for me and slightly annoyed they keep raising prices.
Oh, get their pizza. It's made in house and it's amazing.
Classic course.
I enjoy the older courses that have plenty of trees. I did not enjoy the greens this day. They were crazy fast, and the pin placements were insane. Like they were getting ready for a pga event or something. If you were above the hole, it was almost a guaranteed 3 putt. One of the people I was playing with had a 6 putt!
Recommend Playing Elsewhere
Played on a Sunday at 12:40, waited until 1 pm to tee off- fine. The round proceeded to take 6 hours with multiple groups on each tee. There were 3 greens where the location of the pin caused the ball to roll back to your feet after nearly stopping by the hole. As a 3 index and avid golfer I love a challenge, but this was dumb and caused by a lack of knowledge in how to set up a public course. $75 to play this course is theft, should be $40, expect for balls to be raining down on your group as all the holes are right on top of eachother. Sadly, I have sworn off ever returning to this course I once loved. Check out George dunne, cog hill, or any other course in the area
old oak
front 9 pace was good 1:44 back 9 was poor 2:18. Greens were rock hard. did not hold approach shots nor chips. putting was like a pool table.
Perfect day for Golf
The weather was perfect high 70's very low 80's, the course was in great condition, and the cart person was out on the course. There is not a better day!
Always a great course...
I've played this course well over 100 times and will continue, seems like it just gets better and better. Played a little slow but that's expected for a Saturday afternoon.
Perfect day
The pace of play was excellent and the course was in excellent condition for this time of year.
Old Oak experience
Played the 2nd week in April. Besides the fact that it was cart path only the course was in great shape. Rolling fairways and greens with plenty of trees and water for all. Even had a cart girl and ballwashers which were both firsts for us this year.
Great for March
Course was in great condition for March 2024, pace of play was a little slow but not terrible, i will be back again.
Fall golf
Course is great condition. A little over priced. Staff okay. Starter was the only one with a personality, good.
Poor treatment
Only played this course a few times but won't go back anytime soon. Staff is rude and unfriendly, GM does not respond to customer complaints. Very much seems like a good ole boys club, not family friendly.
