Need better courses management
Took over 5 hours on a short 18 hole course. Too many groups lagging and taking multiple mulligans with no rangers in sight.
Course review
It’s a good mid level course. Not much of a challenge.. played for the first time.

Notables about Chick Evans
* The course is a bit short and most holes are 280-340 yards. So most golfers will only hit a driver and a wedge most of the day. Many clubs in your bag will not get used.
* There is no sand.
* The 3rd hole par 5 is very difficult and only a perfect tee shot will set you up for a second shot, likely a layup before a creek.
* The ground is very very hard. Think road-like. So if you're not hitting the green on a particular shot, be prepared for the ball to bounce and roll quite a bit. It is very easy to think you're laying up and then your ball rolls another 100 yards into the hazard.
* There is a lot of wildlife, which is great. Deer abound. Coyotes, chipmunks, squirrels, hawks, cranes, heron, geese etc.
* You will lose some balls. There are lots of mature trees and a fair amount of water..
* There is a mixture of creative fun holes and straight and simple holes.
* Greens are fairly well kept with the usual exception of people who don't repair their ball marks. And some have some challenging slopes.
* The gas cart policy is bizarre. When we were there it was an additional nearly $20 PER PERSON even if you shared a cart. So yes, your 3.5 hour golf car rental is more than renting a real car for 24 hours. But this might be an intentional pricing tactic to help preserve the health of the course. Not sure.
Beautiful Forest Preserve Course
We played a Wednesday after work 9 hole league there this summer. Beautiful course. Lots of mature trees or maybe too many if you slice.
Pros: Did I mention the trees? Also deer, geese. No sand traps. Friendly staff, well stocked clubhouse.
Cons: 3rd hole par 5 takes a long time and sometimes slows everyone down. . Did I mention the geese? Lots of "deposits" on the greens. No beverage cart
First timer
It was a challenge - I’m used to smaller courses. This course was more difficult but fun.
