Nice 9 hole on a weekday and good views
This is a fun and quick nine holes on a weekday (tends to be really slow on weekends). The price is right and the course is well maintained, with nice views of the Chicago skyline. It’s not long, but it does require shotmaking. Can be played sub 1.5hrs on a weekday afternoon.
Good shape
Pace was a little slow, but not terrible. Fun course to play. They did a nice job cutting back a lot of the brush that dragged play along, since people used to spend way too much time looking for lost balls. Also looks like they have spent time improving the drainage. Nice driving range as well. It is back to being one of our go-to courses for a fun 9.
It's not bad
Look I have 2 points.
1) Friendly staff 5/5.
2) Seems not maintained well 3/5
Worth the price? Think about it...Short holes for the most part with hills. A bad slice can go onto another player's fairaway. I would play again...just not anytime soon. The wind...you know.
disappointing
No starter or ranger on course. A group of 7 (yes 7), just goofing off, slowed down everyone. It was finally broken up on the 6th hole after someone called the club house, but the damage was done.
They were doing some work on the sprinklers and the cart paths were in tough shape. Greens as always were fun but showing the play they get, but overa
This is a really fun course for an average golfer that wants a fair challenging 9 holes, maybe the Best 9 hole value in the area. Staff is very friendly and professoinal
Much Improved
Willow Hill had slipped into awful condition under the previous owner, but the new management has made substantial improvements this year. The weeds on the fairways, the dandelions on the greens and the knee-high rough are all gone. I gave up on this course more than a year ago, but it's much better now. More work is being done, so it should get better still.
Good day at Windy Hill !
The good : Course was in pretty good shape today, great views, good course for walking, got a good Hot Deal price. The not so good - it’s ALWAYS windy here, so be prepared; pace of play tends to run on the slow side. The driving range was really busy, but following the socially distance guidelines, with lots of junior golfers (which is a good thing). All in all it’s a good place if you want to just play 9 and get some exercise in.
It’s my regular early morning track
I simply love this course. Is it immaculate? No. Is it challenging and fun w amazing views and a real links feel, yes!
Challenging without being long. Easier now they are mowing hills. Really tough when they don’t. Some of the toughest greens around.
My early morning fave
Tee off early and fly. Greens have a few too many pitch marks and they over water the course. Granted I’ve never played in the afternoon so maybe it firms up. Love the course. Proper links.
The course is 100% better than last year with the improvvments.
Fun little course with bad maintenance.
A fun course. I've played it twice, with no real pace of play issues, even in the middle of the afternoon. Greens are hilly and really hard to read, which makes it fun. But the clientele of the course does not seem to know what it means to take care of golf course. Massive divots everywhere, which I'm not sure can be blamed on maintenance. It's on a big awesome hill that overlooks the surrounding area, and you can see the skyline. Consequently, it is also extremely windy, which makes for some killer drives (if at the back) and pretty difficult, but fun, shots otherwise. It's a really short course, and there are about four trees total, and I'm not kidding about that. They are also in a little cluster that never comes into play. So you'll have fun whacking the ball as hard as you can, navigating the rolling mounds, and having a good chance to score well (with a great view!). The state of the greens made me give it a "fair." Also that it's $36 for nine and a cart...which seems excessive considering it is such a small course, and only takes 1.5 hours on a bad day to play. There is a driving range and putting/chipping green, so that's cool.
Needs work all the way around.
. There are dandelions on the tee box fairways and greens. A little. weed killer would go along way to helping the course., I had a 4some in font of me with 2 golf bags and giving golf lessons.. The 2 some behind me ran out of patience and we paired up and skipped a hole just to pass them up. 9holes 3 1/2 hours
They need to monitor pace of play.
