greens were perfect
for this time of when the grass is dorment they rolled the greens . It was like putting on a pool table! which would have been awesome if 1 green was flat ! Very challenging pin placements all round. Had a great time.
Challenging layout
Course held up well after several inches of rain . Very pleased with greens after 10 day aeration.25 dollars on golf now . Great deal. Great time.
Great Condition
I cannot give it a complete rating because I gave up after #10. Granted, it was a picture perfect Sunday for October in Chicago so the course was very busy. The course itself is in perfect condition from tee to greens. My one complaint about the course, which would probably improve the pace of play somewhat, would be to cut the first rough a little shorter as the ball would just disappear as soon as it landed making it very difficult to find your ball.
$$$$
The course was in great shape but going into early October shooting on a Thursday and it was a little pricey !!!
Meh
Will not rush out to play again. Slow Saturday round (understandable) but did not finish. No sign of marshal, but again crowded weekend golf. That I can stomach if the couse is worth it, this course is not. Not my cup of tea. Very crammed in feeling. Too many short sub 400 yd par 4's, cheesy dog legs, flat terrain. Hole 16 is clearly the nicest, most interesting hole imo. At least we got to play it before night fall. Won't play again any time soon. Way too many other nicer, better value rounds to play.
Enjoyable round
Started off a little slow, but a call to the ranger got things moving.
Course was in great shape and the greens were very challenging.
OBGC
Bring your entire bag. You'll need all the clubs and may be found utility and woods more often on the front and driver on the back 9. Tough but fair course. Good practice facility and great Reuben!
Last minute round
Went to hit balls at the range and decided to stay and play.
Got out right away for a twilite round.
Great shape as usual and finished 18 in less than 4 hours.
Happy customer
Staff was friendly, Course was in great shape, greens were a little fast but overall good day to golf.
A Local Gem
I have grown to love and fear this course. It appears so harmless but is loaded with tricky challenges. The greens are also more challenging than they look. Nice water features/hazards. Great staff. Great accessible location.
Great Condition and only 4 hours to play
They keep this course in great shape and you should be able to finish a round in 4 hours 15 minutes. I've always enjoyed playing this course.
Enjoyed the course
Beautifully maintained course! Enjoyed the day. A bit pricey normally, but I got a good deal on GolfNow.
Fairly good round of golf for the price
Oak Brook is a decent setup considering lack of land. A lot of water on the front to make up for it. It is usually in pretty good shape but is very overpriced. If you can get it for $40 or less it is worth it otherwise look elsewhere.
Fairways and greens in very good condition
Nice layout
Course and greens were in very good shape
Staff friendly
Slow Pace
Many reviews spoke to the great pace of play. I must disagree. This is the third or fourth time I had played, mainly based on those reviews. Each round up to this point has taken 4+ hours.
Yesterday was the final straw for me as I went out fairly late in the day at 5:30. I decided to walk since I could see the course was fairly busy. As I teed off of number one a twosome in a cart came up. I asked them to play through. I ended up waiting on them for every shot, but it was no fault of their own. Turns out there was a walking fivesome ahead of those guys. I called the golf shop from number 4 fairway and they supposedly sent a ranger to advise this group to allow faster players through.
They did allow the twosome through after number 5, but never waved me through. I finished the par 3 number 7 while they were still teeing off on 8. They just walked right by me.
I called the pro shop a second time and asked for them to send a ranger to number 8. The response was, "What is the issue now?" Well, after I let him have it about what the "issue" was, a ranger or someone came and told them to wave through faster players, again.
I was playing well and should have, with courteous players ahead, gave been able to walk the front nine in an hour and a half. As it was, I finished nine in 2 hours and 15 minutes. No chance of even trying to play the back nine. When I went in and informed them of this review i would write, i was greeted with a blank stare.
Also, the $25 to walk is not what the website says. It should have been $17, according to their site. The guy in the pro shop just shrugged his shoulders and couldn't care less.
